    Motorsport anyone? 🙂

Mouton, a wolf in sheep's clothing if ever there was one! I nearly bought an Audi Quattro a long time ago but after a test drive I realised i would probably kill myself in it. What an awesome car, even in road-going trim

    Motorsport anyone? 🙂

At the risk of showing my age, I used to follow the Tom Walkinshaw Jaguar racing team in the 1980s with annual trips to Le Mans. Couldn't afford a Jaguar then but 1988 was the year that the Jaguar XJR-9LM, piloted by Jan Lammers, Johnny Dumfries and Andy Wallace, finally beat the Porsches. I...

Fortunately, everyone is entitled to express their own opinion, depending on which spin they are following. As with most things these days, un-biased facts are hard to come by due to the infiltration by those with vested interests into all avenues of opinion. DT's Truth Social is a very good example

I do agree that in order to secure an NCAP 5-star safety rating car makers have been forced to incorporate these wretched 'driver safety aids' in all new cars on the mistaken basis that they will turn feckless idiots into safe drivers. Touchscreens are way more dangerous than knobs and switches...

I do too sometimes. I believed the hype and the alleged environmental advantages which now seem rather questionable. I self-built the first EPC Band A passive house in County Durham which included solar PV panels, storage batteries and an EV charger (to take advantage of the grant at the time)...

The MG4 Trophy LR replaced a BMW i3 which had half the range of the MG. I still miss the simplicity of driving the i3 without interference from the MG's so-called 'driver safety aids' which are bonkers My main points are that (almost) affordable EVs have short ranges and real long-range EVs...

OK Len, your argument has some merit for those with deep pockets. Our self-employed Son-in-Law lives in Fife and he has just spent 4 years leasing a £60k Tesla and is now leasing a £70k Polestar 4 as his company car. These cars have a decent range but to buy, they are out of reach for most folk

    Old stock bargains

I realise that we are getting off the subject of "Old Stock Bargains" but if you cannot afford to own a second ICE car for long journeys, why should EV owners have to hire another car for extended trips? I'm sorry but until somebody produces an EV with a real, all-seasons range of at least 500...

    Old stock bargains

At my first tyre change, Continentals to Goodyear Vector all-seasons, I could not believe that the hideous plastic trims concealed proper alloy wheels which look so much better. I sold the trims on eBay for £100 which effectively gave me a 20% discount on the new tyres. Result all round I know...

UK Owners - How many miles are you getting on a full charge?

Up here in the Pennines, the summer range at 100% charge was around 240 miles but it has dropped to 180 this winter which has been particularly long, cold and wet. Motorway speeds are a real range-killer so keeping below 60mph is the key to a reasonable range (MG4 Trophy LR). When I think back...
