Best practice for charging LFP batteries on MG4 se

What charger were you using? From a very low start, a single phase charger should take something like 10hrs - a 3 phase charger probably 6-7 hrs!

I almost left it after a couple of minutes but glad I stayed with it. Very well researched and presented, I like this guy!

Best practice for charging LFP batteries on MG4 se

Basic rules for all lithium technologies are: Only charge to 100% if you’re using it the next day (but an occasional full charge to 100% is good for battery health Don’t charge to 100& on DC fast chargers unless you really need to … DC fast charging is stressful and promotes dendrite growth...

    Keyfob battery

You have to be extremely careful with non-branded lithium coin cells, they can be a real safety risk (explosion & fire). Branded ones like Duracell, Panasonic, Renata etc. have been tested and certified for safety. Look for details of IEC 60086-4 approvals on any others (not just a ‘designed to...

    Parking Buttons

    There isn’t an On/Off button in anMG4!

    Storm damage

Just as likely to be ‘seconds’ off the production line. OK if you know what the problem is and are prepared to accept that, but doubt if you’ll get that info!

    MG4 Software Update Thread

R49,or R63 fix that. I like 24 but I have Reynauds so I need that heat, but 22 comfortably keeps it demisted

    Slamming On (Again)

Basic driving rules apply - indicate when pulling out to pass anything, parked or not! And if anyone says “but you only have to indicate your intention to other road users”, well how can you be sure someone isn’t about to step out or open a door as you pass?

Should i buy phase one MG4 in 2024

They are essentially the same car. Apart from the rear wiper (I applied rain-X to the rear screen, no problem!) and the middle headrest (most owners seem to remove them as they block the view) and the 1-pedal driving (I wouldn’t want it, you also can’t use it if the battery is above 90% SOC)...

    Scheduled Charging Solution

When you first plug in, the Zappi sometimes does a short “test charge” to verify the comm’s etc. you don’t need to force stop it as it only charges for a minute or so then goes into standby.

    MG4 irritations

Missing obscured limit signs is a given, as it’s a camera trying to see them. I did get an issue I’d seen reported when I was over in the UK 2 weeks ago - randomly showing 40 as a limit for no apparent reason and something I don’t get at home in Ireland. I’m wondering if it’s interference from...

    MG4, not a good car.

Sounds like a low/faulty12V battery, or terminals not tight.

Outside temperature reads -40C - AC completely dead

I wouldn’t recommend it. It could result in reading either max or min possible temperature, a blown fuse or another system fault

Flood water damage resulting in full battery replacement

There is always at least 1 breather pipe for the battery as it’s in an otherwise sealed case. This is to allow for the expansion and contraction as it heats up or cools, but the breather should be near the top of the battery - making it even less likely to flood. I would suggest the OP finds an...

AC charge rate slowly decreases to 1kw

Agreed. If it is OK on a public AC charger then it could be a poor connection on your home charger cable or the wiring to the charger. Poor crimps, small gauge wire or loose screw terminals would give this symptom; as the joint or wire temperature increases, so does the impedance therefore...
