    Parasitic drain on 12V battery

Thanks Ian & Clive. When I fitted ours, the biggest problem (as always) was trying to make a neat job of the cable. With a very short USB cable, I looped it across the 'mirror mounting' to the drivers side. Its mostly obscured by the mirror, so no real reduction in visibility & screen blanks...

    Parasitic drain on 12V battery

OK, but that doesn't mean it can't be on the drivers side.

Replacement 12V auxiliary battery for MGS5

Of course, if our S5 12V battery IS dead when we get back at the end of the month, you'll never hear from me again! (We've got as far as Madrid airport, only another 5,500 miles to go!)

Replacement 12V auxiliary battery for MGS5

Yes, I'm sorry if I'm drifting too far. This test is part of showing that the 12V battery should not fail when the car is left unused, that it is defo maintained by the EV high voltage battery and it is unnecessary to look for a 'better' 12V battery to replace the original. I'm pretty sure...

Replacement 12V auxiliary battery for MGS5

Our car was charged to 80% on Monday. I understand EV batteries don't suffer power 'leakage'. However, during this period, it will be maintaining the 12V battery, which in turn is powering vital services within the car. Working with AI, I used likely daily temperatures for the next 2 weeks...

Replacement 12V auxiliary battery for MGS5

The car goes to 'sleep' and iSmart has no way of waking it. I think it will be fine when you get back to it. Our S5 won't be touched again until the end of the month ...let's see how that ends!

The Ultimate MGS5 "Real World" Energy Consumption Thread

Sorry, it's probably not clear. All I was trying to say is if you pay for (say) 10kWh from a charger @80% efficiency, you may only be putting 8kWh of useable energy into your battery.

The Ultimate MGS5 "Real World" Energy Consumption Thread

I've tried to assess 'real world' costs by using the amount of home charger power required to bring the %SoC back up to 80% after driving the car for approx 65miles. I then calculated the 'real' miles/kWh and divided by the car's indication of miles/kWh: approx 2.6/3.3 ~ 80% At 7p/kWh & even...

Welcome to the Soul Blue (aka Piccadilly) S5 club! I turned the nice lady's voice down to a whisper, as I think she is useful, just a bit too loud. We also have carmats.co.UK odourless mats.
