Certainly seems similar to my experience. Glad you could at least get Gridserve to help without yanking on the emergency disconnect, Tesla don't seem interested unless you own one of their cars.
What model do you have? Mine's a late 2022 PFL Exclusive Long Range.
Tesla support weren't massively helpful, they couldn't explain why the stop session request did nothing and dissapeared from the map.
Essentially just washed their hands of it by saying the car controls the charging, which I know is technically accurate.
