Displayed current when charging MG ZS Exclusive on 7Kw charger

Thank you so much for your explanation. Wish I had known this before. Is this explained anywhere in the manual and I missed it?. Unfortunately I have yet to successfully rapid charge - perhaps I would have twigged it then. I get it now. :)

Displayed current when charging MG ZS Exclusive on 7Kw charger

Displayed current when charging MG ZS Exclusive on 7Kw charger. I have rocked up at the local Tesco Podpoint chargepoint with about 63 miles left on the GOM a few times. The displayed current in ready mode is never more than minus 15A when I am expecting around minus 30 (nominal 32). I have...

What car did you replace with your MG?

Mitsubishi PHEV 2L 2016. EV range annoyingly low. Pre EV switch so engine would start too easily. No range anxiety, large depreciation. Replaced by MG ZS Exclusive. Loving the full EV and the gizmos but not had to charge publicly yet. Got a Shell card for emergencies but who would want to...

Podpoint home charger using a timer purchased from Amazon?

I think you are probably right. I believe Telsas had the same problem which was fixed over the air. The Shelly solution is very good & so cheap. Also the WiFi performance is excellent compared some other "smart" devices. It seems to me that, as usual, the government department handing out...

    Recent BMS update

This is interesting. My car (Dec 2020 )had an update yesterday. Unfortunately I don't know which one but I believe it to be the latest BMS one. Car managed to take 6kWhs on the Octopus Go early this morning from the EO mini pro. However it would not do a scheduled charge from the app today...

Podpoint home charger using a timer purchased from Amazon?

Update: EO rang me to say there is a new software update for the MG. Car booked in for 17 February. EO also have an update fix if MG one does not work. In the meantime my fix is working - just need a few more days to be sure.

Podpoint home charger using a timer purchased from Amazon?

Thanks Andy. It all about the Androids here! I updated the Shelly firmware anyway. So easy. The device is working even in a metalclad MCU. I did remove the metal flap over the breakers to give it a chance.

Podpoint home charger using a timer purchased from Amazon?

I have been in touch with EO and my installer. I have gone down this route because I have it on good authority that the car goes to sleep & the EO cannot wake it up! I have today installed the Shelly 1 in the Garo MCU with RCBO & PME earth detection which in turn feeds the EO chargepoint...

Podpoint home charger using a timer purchased from Amazon?

My Shelly's arrived today. Hoping to install one of them tomorrow to kickstart the EO charger timed events for Octopus Go. Set up completed this pm. Browser interface using Firefox is great with fixed ip address. Had to use the app to get it working on the browser. It's looking good.

Podpoint home charger using a timer purchased from Amazon?

I ordered 2 Shelly 1's yesterday direct from Shelly Store UK at a great price & they have already been dispatched. Even if I can get my EO charger fixed they will be used elsewhere in my house. If there is no fix I will be ready!

Podpoint home charger using a timer purchased from Amazon?

All the MG software would need to do is to tweak the 12V control line so the smart chargepoint with timers would know the car is ready to charge. The only time the "switch" would need changing is if leaving the car to the mercy of airport parking in 2025 (!) to avoid the 12V battery going flat...

Podpoint home charger using a timer purchased from Amazon?

So are saying that the car does not go to sleep for a while after plugging in? Also my plan was to keep car plugged in for a couple of days so it would get the balancing charge the next night if not used in between. Having seen AndyNWuk's post about the Shelley device I might follow up his...

Podpoint home charger using a timer purchased from Amazon?

AndyNWuk. Your video is absolutely brilliant. I am looking into the Shelley now. The fact it works from a web browser instead of an annoying app has to be a bonus too. Many thanks.

Podpoint home charger using a timer purchased from Amazon?

Many thanks to Cocijo & Richie for your useful replies. I have just applied the idea I had yesterday to use my old Onzo clamp meter on the tails to the earth detector box which in turn feeds the EO chargepoint. I see the installation is taking around 27 watts just to exist which is a bit...

Podpoint home charger using a timer purchased from Amazon?

I am experiencing similar problems with an EO Chargepoint, only installed 3 weeks ago. I like the idea of using a sonoff wifi timer as I can vouch for the fact that they really work, and tweaking the 12V comms to the car seems to be the correct solution to wake it up. However I obviously...
