Made good use of the Tesla network over in Europe this last week. Preferred them to others as no messing around with other apps or charge cards - also good value. Glad it got done.
Well hopefully we have managed to solve this issue - despite MG UK and Mr Smart - and I’ve found a new dealer who can be trusted to be knowledgable and will listen.
Hopefully this solution will now filter out to all MG5 and MGZS drivers who can be helped.
They’ve only just accepted that it can be updated, but they know which is in my vehicle as I told them, then updated them that car had been successfully updated - something they said wasn’t possible.
Even if people can’t see the label on the EVCC, it is relatively easy to take off. There are two 8mm bolts holing it on and is a simple job. If you wanted to remove the 12V battery, taking the EVCC off is part of that process so shouldn’t be an issue.
Good luck. Once the update is applied, it may say ‘EVCC update required’ or similar. It would also say ‘complete’ against the update.
Still not 100% correct. Mine is 11313393 and was the one updated my MG dealership who then told MGUK technical it could be done.
A site with 13 chargers may only have 8 open to all. Reason I say that is twice now been to sites and app has shown some out of order. First time inadvertently used one and it didn’t work. Moved to another and it was fine. Then a Tesla came to the first one and charged with no issues. Leads...
I have had my 2022 PFL updated at the dealership. It allows me to use ‘open 2 all’ Tesla chargers. Site numbers are going up. I am finding that not all chargers at open 2 all sites are open.
If you are looking to have it done as a stand alone up date with no other work, then I think most places are charging. If it’s being done at the same time as service then I’d ask them to ensure all firmware is up to date for all ECUs.
Email from Gary Smart:
“When I arrived in the office on Wednesday the 5 June, I was greeted with two engineers at my desk, who were waiting to discuss this exact scenario with me. They had been approached by a dealership who informed us that they were able to install software directly into the...
Good work!
I fear unless / until MG update their technical bulletin and allow the update FOC and removal of the direction for hardware change, we are simply winning battles rather than the war. Many dealers won’t want to go against MG Tech directions.
We’ve come a long way since Tesla...
Wow. Looks like he has decided to listen to the email I sent him around mine showing him just how wrong he was. Hopefully will get easier moving forward now. A new technical bulletin allowing the updated software to be installed FOC would be a good result.
