3 weeks with MG5 and a couple of questions.

When I drove my MG5 I always put it in ECO. I just got into the habit of changing it every time I got in - to my mind it gave better range, and no discernible loss of performance. Driving on motorway at 70 will hurt the range, for sure. If you want to get the most between stops then stick to...

    I bought a car

Good choice .., enjoy filling her up for under a fiver on an overnight tariff ?

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

Another take on this surge forward issue ... this morning, after heavy rain overnight the brake discs were a bit 'seized'. Pressing the accelerator lightly did nothing so I pressed a bit harder, when the brakes 'unseized' themselves the car was suddenly moving forward enthusiastically ... just a...

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

Genuinely interested to know would this be possibly what causes the car to shoot forward ... lightly press brake pedal to select drive, but also slightly catch the accelerator by mistake thereby in effect pressing both pedals ... the brake is not applied enough to stop the car moving forward...

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

While manoeuvring into my car parking space the other day I put my foot on the brake and the car shot forward a foot or so … did I press the accelerator by mistake … ? No way to know for sure but … probably ?

Solar + Battery setup maybe not working as it should?

Advice please, can anyone help with this ... noticed today that the spike on graph circled was not supplied by battery, but by the grid. Battery was fully charged overnight, from 1- 6am. Confused by my setup at the best of times, never really understood these graphs, but this has me puzzled...

    Changing to aero wheels

Yes, you're right, I hadn't thought of that. Additional stopping force on the lorry would screw up my "theoretical" example above. I'll climb down on this one, complete u-turn for me ... best to be safe after all, for everyone's sake and leave the right gap ... ;)

    Changing to aero wheels

I know but not enough for an impact, provided the gap between car and lorry is greater than the distance travelled in the reaction time. The car will stop quicker than the lorry, 50m* as opposed to 120m*, say, so from the car's point there would be an initial rapid closing of the gap - but not...

No, nor will the lorry ;)

    Changing to aero wheels

56mph is roughly 25 metres per second so as long as your reflexes are pretty good (= or <1 second) then example 3, or possibly even 2 above is fine … but not 1 ?
