BTW, Google Maps appear at their normal brightness. Maybe the answer is to stick with that.

Thanks for the reply. Please can you tell me where to select the light/dark themes. I've searched high and low! I found the infotainment screen brightness slider on the swipe down changes the actual screen brightness but the navigation map brightness appears unaffected.
