Ah, OK. I suppose it might simply be a different tyre with the same model name. Otherwise, I can't imagine Continental would go to the trouble of developing an inferior tyre just for the Chinese market, or save the better rubber/tread pattern for the Euro models.

Not arguing with this theory specifically, but do we have any data to confirm this?
I had EcoContact 6's on my German made Focus, and they were just as poor in the wet as the ones on the MG4*.
*I am assuming the EcoContacts were European made, but I could be wrong.
