I've just had a door proximity sensor replaced; when dropping the car off at the dealer I mentioned my disappointment with the sub-woofer, so they performed a test and they say it's working. I have the R31 software but they won't update it unless they agree that there's a problem.

Yes, it makes no difference which regen setting is selected

It's not really a speed thing, more a gentle deceleration thing. I think that I notice it more between 25-30 mph as that's fast enough for the problem to be obvious, but slow enough that the whine doesn't get lost in the wind and road noise.

It's booked into our local dealer at the end of the month, although primarily to have one of the door position sensors replaced. However they've agreed to also investigate this whine while it's there.

I don't believe so, it doesn't sound electrical. It sounds more like a mechanical gearing noise, like a worn differential on an elderly Cortina.
