Adaptive Cruise Control Default Distance

I've had my Trophy LR a couple of days now and am still getting to grips with the various functions. I think I've worked out the difference between ACC and Traffic Jam Assist (like ACC plus assisted steering). I know I can switch from ACC to TJA with a couple of tugs on the stalk but is there a way of reverting to regular ACC back from TJA? I haven't found it yet.

Also is there a direct way of initiating Intelligent/Manual Speed Assist (or as I've known it before - Speed Limiter) without delving into the various sets menus every time I turn the car on? Would be nice, say, to set it up as a shortcut on the star button but as far as I can see this isn't possible.

as far as i know you can go from ACC to pilot, but then to go back to ACC you have to disengage pilot by pushing the stick back into its OFF position and then clicking it forward and restarting the ACC.

Short version is "There is no way to switch from Pilot to ACC without fully disengaging both"

Thanks for confirming my suspicion.

If someone pulls into the gap you would have to slow down anyway to achieve a safe gap anyway, so what’s the problem
I can only speak for myself here.

We sadly have a lot of "Me me me types" in traffic.

Imagine this

You are in the outside lane on the motorway, there is a row of traffic in front of you and in the inner lane are slower moving lorries.

Traffic in the inner lane is moving at about 50 mph and traffic in the outer lane is moving at 80 mph

In this situation, there might be 100 meters or so behind a lorry, that is not free, so some guy behind you, moves to the inner lane, passes you and then pull out in the outer lane in front of you. Your car will now brake to make the correct distance and then the next car behind you do the same.

This disrupts the flow of traffic and the idiot doing this gains virtually nothing as there are still 100 cars in line in front of him, that he can only pass a few at the time, by doing his illegal "undertaking"

The most silly thing is not even, that he does not really gain something, it is that there is a fine for doing this.

£230 and one point on your license (If you get 3 points within 2 years, you need to retake your license)

Theoretically if the police wanted, they could write a person up for every car they "overtake" on the wrong side, so if he zooms past 3 cars it would be £690 and 3 points

But still some people do this, even though, as said, they dont really gain anything other than maybe get home 5 seconds sooner, and have burned a little more gas.

I remember my old dad saying when he was teaching me all those years ago; "they just get to the next set of red traffic lights before you". :)

Yeah, i have also had people that came up close to me very agressively in the fast lane, in a sort of a "get out of my way" and i was overtaking a lorry, so could not go anywhere.

When i was finished overtaking, i pulled over, into the "slow" lane and they agressively overtook me, just to cut just in front to take an exit.

I mean...If that had been me, i would have been in the slow lane behind the lorry ready to take the exit, but nooo, they had to push their way to get onto the exit that way. When they get to the exit ramp, they slow down, and the lorry will then typically overtake them, even before the ramp turns away from being parallel with the motorway.

At best, they saved 2 seconds, but in reality, they are probably just going to get to the stopped cars, at the top of the ramp, waiting to turn left or right 2 seconds earlier.

Other types of idiots include those in the third lane just before we enter a local tunnel, and inside the tunnel, they then "force" themselves across 3 lanes to get to the slow lane, because there again, is an exit ramp just on the other side of the tunnel.

I wish the police would use some of that energy they use to ticket people for doing 2-3 mph over the speed limit, to those people. I really feel that in the grand scheme of things, these morons are A LOT more dangerous than the person doing 53 in a 50 zone, generally speaking.

and remember there is a difference between just using ACC and using MG Pilot. Personally I don't use Pilot, just ACC, I prefer to do the steering myself. :)
Personal choice of course. I use it and keep my hands on the wheel (as you are supposed to) and have found it very good at guiding the car even on country roads where it takes a lot of the weight out of the steering and therefore I don't need to grip the wheel as tightly and that's a boon with arthritis in hands and wrists!
