Curious to know what settings people are using for their aircon over this summer.
I have seen posts where it has been set to Low, or 16 degrees and think to myself...that's bloody cold.

For me In colder weather I set the heater to about 20 or 21 when needed, I find this comfortable. In warmer/hotter weather I set the aircon to..... 20 or 21, I still find this comfortable.

Does anyone go to the extremes really low when it's hot, and really high when it's cold ?

I set mine to low and just drop the fan speed down never really used aircon in an ICE so would like to find out what settings are most efficient.

Same here. I did keep it on full blast on Monday and that really ate into my miles/kWh for my short journey from work to home (3 miles)

Hi Gomev, me I tend to put the air con on as low as it will go 16 degrees I think that is, switch auto switch on to get max power turn off eco button recirculating button will be off, but I might just turn that on for a few minutes and let it run at that until it’s nice and cool, and then I turn the fan speed down quite low. Which cancels the auto switch And if I do use recirculating button turn that off that’s at yesterdays temps very hot it was here.

In winter full heating on in auto.
eco off, recirculating off, other wise windows will miss up pretty quickly, until it warms the cabin up a bit and then use the fan controller to maintain temperature this I find better than the auto settings.
Les.

Although I have the auto capability, I tend to operate it manually.
Minimum temp and control with fan speed. Recirc brings the temperature down faster when the car is hot so I also use that for a limited period.

She who must be obeyed seems to think if the air con is on 16 it will get cold quicker!!!!!!
A misconception I know. I tend to have it set to about 18 and usually use Eco mode once the heat build up has been removed. (tend to find recirc cause a lot of misting)
For heating I tend to use heated seats if possible as they are more effective

i have mine on 19, fan speed 2, recirc (when i remember to turn it on).
unless its mad hot out inwhich case all guns blazing on auto.

ive found personally that the AC on / off doesnt make that much diff, but fan low / high has a much bigger diff on battery M/kWh

I think this is my point, just by turning it to low doesn't make it get any colder quicker, it just keeps going and going longer using up those electrons until you are sitting in a fridge. I don't want to sit in a fridge, I just want to be comfortable.
At home in winter for example, I don't set my central heating to 40 degrees and then turn it down when it gets to 20 or 21.
Each to their own way of doing things of course but my very simplistic approach to the aircon/heating in the car has proven very effective for me. The temp is already set at 21 so when it's cold, turn on heater. When it's hot press AC button.
It goes a bit mental at first fan blasting away but it soon settles down as it approaches the set temperature.
:)

No auto stuff on mine, currently set to lowest temp but fan on 1.... seems quite pleasant after a fiat 500 and a Polo that had air con that should have been reported to trading standards...

I just put mine on auto then manually adjust it once it reaches required temperature. Apart from the frugal minded approach I can't see why you wouldn't. Hardly worth paying for it unless you use it, surely (not that you have a choice!)

I tried to use AUTO the other day for about 10 minutes and it's useless in my MG5. So I've gone back to manually controlling it. In auto the fans are just on full blast even after changing it in settings to be low.

If you set the climate control to low the fans will be on the whole time by design. If you set a temperature the fan will slow down as it approaches the temperature.
The most economoical temperature will be OFF. That will cause the system to dry out and the seal will leak the gasses then you will have to pay to repair the system and regas. I think they say to run the AC for a minimum of 3 hours a month to ensure the system stays lubricated.

I tend to set mine to 24 in the winter in the SEAT as the AC is a bit weak on the 1.4l engine then 16 or low when the silly weather hits. Something I read that seems to work is drop all windows, turn on the AC drive off until the AC starts blowing cold then close the front windows when the front feels cold close the rear windows. This keeps the warm air from building up.

It's more efficient, in terms of battery use, when you have the temperature set close to ambient temperature as it has less work to do. The further away from ambient, the more juice it's going to use.
Most efficient in terms of cooling the cabin is temperature set to LO, windows closed (after initially letting the warm air out) and recirculation on. If you're not in AUTO mode set the fan speed high.

My current ICE Aircon doesn't work....my word it's been a warm couple of weeks!!

Can't wait for my MG5 to arrive.

When we picked up the ZS the dealer did say if you can use heated seats over heating in winter it uses alot less battery (if you have them ofcourse)

Hi, that is very true what you have been told, but you will probably find you need some heat to stop the windows from missing up especially when it’s raining I’m sure you will find what’s best for you come the colder weather enjoy the car.

If the heated seats use the 12v battery could that cause an issue with it going low and not getting charged enough from the HV battery?

Hi Jomarkh, no it shouldn’t as long as the car is being driven or it’s in ready mode, the 12volt will be charged from the HV battery.
But it has been known to happen when people sit waiting in the car and it’s left in the accessories mode that the 12 volt as been depleted after a while enough for you to be unable to start the car.
So if your sat waiting be so to have the car fully turned on if you want to uses the seat heaters, lights on even the radio, as it will slowly run down the 12 volt if it’s not on fully
