Received this update from Vanarama today…. (ZS Trophy White. Order placed November 2021):
“Unfortunately, we are still waiting to hear further information from MG regarding the status of your vehicle. We have now escalated this to management to see if they have any better luck in contacting MG to obtain an update.”
I will be in touch once we have further information.

😞😞😞😞😞😞

Same order as mine, only I placed mine early December ‘21.

Thanks for starting this thread, maybe we can keep this one updated with all the non-existent Vanarama deliveries. Keeps it out of the shipping updates thread. 👍🏻

I’ll be honest and say I hadn’t intended to start a new thread but I couldn’t work out how to put a new post on Shipping Updates one!

Great idea though

Lets keep it going

Just a quick message to let you know the management at Vanarama will be looking into these MG delays and will hopefully be updating us next week. Once we have the information on when we are likely to see these vehicles, we will be getting in touch with you ASAP. We will be advising the September date until the update comes in but this date could move past September.

This was sent to me today. Ordered mid november

I cancelled my Jan order and sadly it seems my decision was vindicated. I tried and failed to get hold of anyone from Greenhous who supposedly placed the fleet order.

Vanarama were very helpful whenever I spoke, but aren’t getting any cars or information. They never received a penny from me (I didn’t take the charger).

They also only make money on actually delivering cars to the end user so no benefit to them in wasting our time either.

There are a lot of Vanarama specific posts in the Shipping Update thread so a dedicated one may be a good idea. I'll remove "ZS EV" from the title and move this to the general area because Vanarama issues are not model specific.

Hi All.

I have just received a call from Vanarama regarding my LR ZS EV Trophy ordered with them on Nov 21. Firstly new estimated build slot is Jan 23 with delivery Mar/Apr 23, but they also told me that my lease amount will increase as the UK government grant won't be eligible as the build slot is only 2023, even though I ordered with them on Nov 21. Is this right or do I need to push back?

Spoke to Vanarama this morning - same deal.

November 2021 order but car now not due to be built until at least January 2023 which they say means a March/April delivery.

Asked if there was any chance it might turn up before Christmas but they seemed pretty certain that the build wouldn't be until after Christmas now.

I asked who the supplying dealer was. "We don't know that unfortunately".

Lady I spoke to said this was the information they were getting direct from MG rather than a dealer.

Made absolutely no sense (how can they not know which dealer they've ordered the car from!!!) so going to try and find somebody higher up in the company to explain what's going on.

Might be time for a review on Trustpilot too because I'm really not buying this all being MG's issue now given what we've seen from other dealers and this is the second time they've pushed the delivery back by several months only a month or so from their stated delivery date.

I mean the very fact they say it'll probably be built in January but then it will take 3-4 months to get to you indicates they've known for a long time we weren't getting them in September!
Hi, beowulf.

I have just got the same call but have been told my lease amounts need to go up due to me not qualifying for the UK Grant, I ordered with them in Nov 21.

Eek. Have they given an indication of scale? If it’s the scale of the grant (£1500) that’s gonna be a lot to stomach.

They didn't say that to me. How much extra are they asking for? I'd definitely push back on that. As I understand it from this thread the grant is based on your order date not build date. If you ordered in November they should uphold the grant. I believe it's the dealer's responsibility to renew the grant every so often if an order has been delayed. If you're not eligible for the grant it sounds suspiciously like the order was put in later than we were told so I'd definitely try and get hold of an order number which I think some people with Vanarama orders have managed to do. If they've put the order in late it shouldn't be on us to come up with the extra £££. Earlier in this chat there was a talk of a dealer that was trying to get people to pay the extra £££ when their orders turned up - not sure what the resolution was there but I think a complaint was made to MG?

It's all very strange - when I ordered they made it sound like this was a pipeline stock deal with secured build slots already - I remember they only had so many in the colour I ordered. Now it all sounds almost as if they've put in factory build orders and after the grant date.

Other thing is are they now going to say the spec of the car has also changed if it's not being built until January? New orders were going to lose the sunroof - so I think we need to have our order numbers to check when our order was put in.

Push back, refer them to this website and ask them if the order was placed during the eligability period, why is the order now no longer eligable?

Plug-in grant for cars to end as focus moves to improving electric vehicle charging - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Specific sentence in that is "All existing applications for the grant will continue to be honoured and where a car has been sold in the 2 working days before the announcement, but an application for the grant from dealerships has not yet been made, the sale will also still qualify for the grant." Its about 3/4 down the press release

I think you've been stitched up but doubt that pushing back will get you anywhere dependent upon what the smallprint states between you and vanarama. If they had ordered with MG when you ordered then the grant would've been applied for then. If the order had gone through to MG when you ordered you'd have your car now or in a couple of weeks. The fact that so many vanarama orders are coming out as delivery next year indicates that they've taken deposits but haven't ordered anything with MG yet. They'd've known in December that the grant was lost and not to at least inform you of this is shameful.

The email below from Vanarama - I asked why no one other Vanarama customers have been told about this but said he has a 400-odd list of ppl to get to:

Hi Mr XXX,

Thanks for your time today.

As discussed, MG have not been able to allocate your vehicle a build slot yet. MG have now informed us that the most realistic estimate for build dates for these vehicles is the beginning of next year, which means your vehicle is most likely to be arriving in March/April time after being built and shipped to the UK.

The reasons given by MG are due to a combination of global issues within the industry, including semi-conductor shortages and global disruption to supply chains.

This is an estimated delivery timeline at this point, we are in regular contact with MG, and as soon as we have any further updates, we will advise you. Obviously if they arrive any earlier, we will contact you straight away to organise delivery of your vehicle ASAP.

Your vehicle was eligible for the electric grant at the point of order, unfortunately the government removed the electrical vehicle grant in June, the rules applied by the government in doing this stipulate the vehicle must be delivered within 12 months from the time of application for the grant to be eligible.

Due to the delay, it is highly likely the car we have ordered will not qualify for the government grant by the time it arrives. Unfortunately, this will mean an increase in the monthly rentals. We have worked extremely hard with your finance company to ensure the price you get will be the best price possible, but it will take into account the removal of the government grant.

If you are willing to keep the order with us the monthly rental will be £xxx.xx which is an increase of £83.33

I have looked for alternatives, and even with the loss of the government grant all options are significantly more expensive.

If you are happy to proceed with the new price, please let me know as I will arrange with the funder.

I understand this isn't the news you wanted to hear, but please can you let me know how you want to proceed ASAP to avoid any further delays.

Thanks & regards,

It is quite far down the page but what you are looking for is this paragraph:

Hi neilp7865

It has increased by £83 a month (23% increase), So circa £3k over my 36 months contract. I am fuming with this all.

You'd've been eligible for the £2500 grant in November, but that ended in December. As stated above you should've been told then. I ordered 10th December which would've got the grant but was informed just before christmas that the order hadn't been placed by 15th so missed the grant. Was annoyed but still went ahead as there's little that can be done. The honesty helped as well.
I feel for you as you've waited that long for bad news; I hope you get redress but very much doubt it.

So sounds like there are going to be many unhappy Vanarama customer calls over the next couple of days. Shocking experience all in all.

Iv ordered from vanarama as wel, iv heard nothing from them. I’ll not be increasing my monthly rental , if they cancel it then I’ll not be paying for the so called free charger either. Sounds like a shambles to me. I better look over my contract 😂🤦🏼‍♂️

Ouch.

Interesting to know where we stand with this. If you don't accept the new price now do Vanarama cancel the contract immediately?

If so I wonder if we are still liable for the chargepoint which is obviously a big concern in terms of looking for other cars.

Alternatively can we just wait it out and see if the new car does arrive before our order dates reach 12 months old in November which given the stories we've heard about cars suddenly arriving unexpectedly doesn't seem impossible.

Would be good to have an order number so we can check with MG ourselves the likely delivery date. Also good to know the date the grant was applied for as presumably we have 12 months from that before all hope is lost.

Why are Vanarama now so sure it won't be until January given they don't seem to have had accurate information in the past?

I am considering doing the same. Also, have a charger installed by them.
