MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

I hope for all our sakes, but especially everyone patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for the delivery of their LONG OVERDUE MG ZS EV.

Just been told that my TCLR ordered in Feb for Sept delivery may not even have been built yet, up until today my lease company told be it will be delivered on the 1st of Sept as agreed.
They've not given you a true picture.

The truth is, as we've been saying a long time on this thread, the dealers should be telling people there is no information until they know the car is built shipped, and on its way.

If you were guessing, and that's all a dealer can do, would put a February order to the very end of the year, best case.

Just taken delivery of my ZS EV Long Range SE Today… Finally !!

Finally been told car is built in country (China) and saying October delivery. This is the first Tunbridge Wells MG have given me and apparently showing on the system. Anyone have any experience of actual shipping times once build has been confirmed?

Yesterday I posed as a new customer and enquired about the Long Range ZS EVs advertised on Luscombe's website as 'available in 1 month'. A salesperson contacted me and confirmed that, yes, I could indeed order one of these cars today and have it delivered in September.

@Sam Luscombe later admitted this to be true and has offered to explain why they are making these cars available to new customers rather than fulfilling outstanding orders. I've suggested he (or one of the other dealers doing this) should go onto the next podcast and explain to all of us who have been waiting for months.

The errors don't keep repeating. I don't know how clearer I can be. We list everything on AutoTrader. They are not errors - it is simply Auto Trader's wording to say they are 'in stock'.
We do have a couple of ZS EV LR SE's available via a cancelled order which I am making available for retail customers under certain conditions. We also have lots of these coming to existing customers in September. I'm very happy to have a phone call on the situation to explain the reasoning behind why a very small number are available to sell... and it is far more complex and logical than you'd imagine (government grants, cash flow implications, logistics of end users and intermediaries, the timing of contracts ending for leases etc). And no, it's not driven by pure greed/profiteering. My mobile is always on, and I'm happy to explain this to anyone who'd like to call - 07741293460.

I have said this b4 I know, but if the advert is incorrect in the way it is presented ( some my suggest click Bate or even misleading ) then take it down - simple !.

Don't know if any ZS's or 5's are on board, but the Titus sailed from Shanghai on the 21st with the first (dealership demo cars) batch of MG4's. It's due at Suez on the 11th.

I agree - if so many people have pointed out it's misleading, why not just remove it.

I could even understand if cancellations were diverted to a fleet customer due to some contractual obligation, but at the moment we're seeing a cars advertised at a premium and offered to retail customers whilst others who purchased in good faith are left dangling. I really would be open to hearing why this is the case

Other dealers have managed to switch the odd cancelled order to a waiting customer, and if it's MG that have placed obstacles in the way of this happening, then I welcome knowledge of how they're making it difficult. I'm prepared to give them a piece of my mind - that it doesn't change my waiting time is no matter.

And last but by no means least it helps if we customers post reviews, whether joyful or negative (just honest ones - no witch hunting) on AutoTrader, Trust Pilot or anywhere else that'll give others a heads up as to what they can expect at any MG dealer you've done business with. Let them know about your experience.

So far as we've seen it's around 35 days from the ships we've followed on here. Then however many weeks they sit at Portbury... some dealers appear to get theirs in a relative short turnaround. For others it seems the cars have sat there a bit waiting for transportation.

In a perfect, sensible World, I would agree with you. In SAIC’s World , not a chance. Completely hatstand that company. If it were not for the price point, we would never have been in this situation, as SAIC would never have got off the ground (Well maybe they would when they are state sponsored).

I get what they are trying to do, and so far it is working, but when other, more established vehicle manufactures start waking up and produce cars in direct competition to SAIC’s price point, I think it will be a whole different scenario.

In any event, will be interesting finding out 😁
i think you need to understand how long and how big Saic are, they were founded in 1955, it is currently the largest of the “Big Four” state-owned car manufacturers of China, namely: SAIC Motor, FAW Group, Dongfeng Motor Corporation, and Changan Automobile, with car sales of 5.37 million, 3.50 million, 3.28 million and 2.30 million in 2021 respectively. That does not include the cars they make for other car companies, especially ev tech and motors.
I don't think the UK's import of MG cars would cause them a great deal of angst If we stopped buying them. it's because they are a mega car production company that they can produce cars at such a price point. There is no comparison with other car manufacturers coming close to their production capabilities. That is the reality of Saic and why they don't really care if you buy one or not. They can sell every car they produce and they cannot produce them fast enough to fulfill their order books. While the world's love affair with out four wheels friends continues to move into more greener expectations Saic will continue to be very competitive compared to European manufacturers who have been lazy, and that's being kind, in providing a quality low cost mid sized EV at an affordable price point.

Being a state owned manufacturer in China helps a lot. How can a European factory compare to the Labour rates and practices like enforced overtime, lower health and safety thresholds etc. I agree that some legacy manufacturers have been on the backfoot. But it’s hard to compete. VW, Toyota and GM also have huge scale, but none can match the price of the Chinese brands.

If Leo Spirit has many cars on board it will be a miracle. It unloaded in Italy, and Spain already from memory. I hope I'm wrong but not optimistic.
Leo Spirit spent 21.5 hrs in Italy, then spent 9 hrs in Spain ,due to leave Portbury today at 1pm which is 39hrs in dock so she has unloaded something 🚗🚗🚗🚗

and guess who produces a lot of their cars ! particularly VW and GM. I think them are also involved with BMW ev production?

I am collecting mine today after waiting 8 months. Anyone got any suggestions if I should get any extra packages while collecting the car? Any idea about any service packages etc? I will post a pic once I get home with the car. All the best and good luck to you all who are waiting for your car, I really hope it won’t be too long now till you get your car.
