HV battery shutoff when initiating rapid charge. Vehicle control system fault.

The AA tried to top up 12v battery for a bit but didn't help either same issue. Anyway car is on the truck now.

Feel for you as we had the same thing in April on our way down to EuroDisney. With RAC now with full relay as it really caused a lot of problems.

Taking my first long trip today since to take the kids to Harry Potter world, so we are both really nervous.

Hope you get it sorted quickly, sounds like it’s a 2 minute fix for the MG garage. Wish they could teach the AA a what to do.

Came across a new ZS bricked at a Gridserve charger at South Mimms services over the weekend - the owner had, had the car for 3 weeks and it was his first rapid charge. The AA turned up as we were leaving. Hopefully they managed to get it going. Annoyingly the driver had been told it was 'his fault' - not sure if that was by his garage as had to cut the conversation short due to the AA arrival. Doesn't help with the transition to EVs - hopefully if the software hadn't been updated at PDI that will resolve it!

Explained to my wife that's why I'm going to be very specific when we eventually collect ours!

Ours (MGZSEV Trophy LR) did this on its first rapid charge in March. The dealer updated the software under MGUK instruction and its been perfect ever since, done a number of rapids just fine now!

Have been rapid charging BP Pulse 150kW with our rental mk2 LR from July - today charged to 80 and then added an extra 3% with a cancel on the infotainment screen. It is a big concern but so far so good.

Edit: car built at the end of March22 and PDI early July

I'm waiting on the dealership to get back to me, looking at the papers that came with car and also under the bonnet when I opened it(very dusty), I believe the car was manufactured last year October, and with 21Q2 maps I think it might have been running old software. That is best case scenario and not some hardware fault.

Ooh amongst pigeons cat put the.....

That you have very recently received a "new" car that you suspect may have been built last October .... what with all the gnashing of teeth on the thread about delivery dates etc
I'm just making assumptions here, until I go to the dealer...I'm just going of what I've read. I can tell you the car was definitely new when it was delivered to me, the only thing I didn't check was under the bonnet...I would have asked why it was dusty like the Sahara desert... lesson learned for the next one.

Hi
There was a software update about a month ago for car that brick on rapid charge, do you know if these updates had been done have a watch of the podcasts for this year as Miles talks about it. Hope this helps tried to see you other posts but this post has a lot in it.

I've noticed the AC charging behaviour changes once the update is done. Basically if you unlock the car it pauses AC charging so you can remove the cable. Previously you'd have to stop the charge from the screen or app.

Probably a good way of working out of your car has had the update.

Thanks for that will remember this as I like to help where possible and that a good indication as to the new software has been uploaded.

Car sorted, but looks like it hadn't received the updates and my 12v battery drained, so far it seems OK however not used it much since, I'm now charging it at home, hopefully it's resolved and my OH is confident to use it again.
