Tyre Inflator (stopped working) - warranty

My MG5EV is nearly 2 years old. I had to use to the Tyre Inflator for the second time recently and it just stopped working.
Is this something the warranty will cover?
Is there any point speaking with local MG dealer to get it replaced please?
PS: this tyre / air pump came with the car
Just thought I will take advice here rather than long hold on phone and then being brushed away. Thanks
 
 
If one were suitably distained, one could consider taking a demo vehicle for a test drive and making a cursory check there was a suitable kit in the boot undercroft..... 😙
 
Would the tyre pump be within 7 year warranty or would it be considered part/accessories and have only 12 months warranty
It's a part. They can be bought from eBay from £8 up and a bit more on Amazon.
 
It's far more convenient to use a battery operated inflator.
I use one of these:

Having a spare wheel is an even better solution ?
I agree that the battery powered inflators are great, but how often is a flat tyre mended by gue and air (the answer is never!). (unless it is a leaky old rim - a joy to come in 10 years time?)
We have all been conned by manufactures and their bean counters! You will curse them on a wet windy day and a knackered tyre stuck at the side of the road waiting for the AA to organise a replacement tyre !

I don't think that's fair. I've used the glue and inflator successfully to get me to a tyre place. What they don't mention is that the tyre is considered a write-off by tyre places as they don't want to deal with the mess inside so even if the tyre was repairable with a patch/plug it will likely be condemned if it's full of gloop.

That used to be the case, but modern gloops are water based and can be rinsed out of the tyre easily.
 
I think carrying a spare has to be a better option myself to be honest.
Consider this, not many cars have the capability / provision for carrying a spare anymore.
The ZS EV has got a spare wheel well in the boot, so WHY not use it 🤷‍♂️ ?.
I just don't understand why anybody would not use the space provided to be truthful.
If you have a puncher caused by a nail / screw etc, then the provided goo and the inflation pump should get you out of a tight spot, maybe.
The down side here is that the tyre is now rendered unrepairable anyway because of the goo has bonded to inside of tyre.
If you been unlucky enough to have caught / ripped the side wall etc, then the goo & pump is never going to work for you anyway.
In this situation if you are not carrying a spare or space saver, you are then hanging around waiting for the recovery people to arrive.
Then they have to remove the wheel and find a local tyre shop that is open, to replace the tyre and return to the car and install it, all this takes time !.
If it's late at night, then the car will need to be recovered to a local garage !.
This is totally unnecessary if you are carrying a spare wheel of course.
The recovery people will have you on your way in less than 30 minutes, quicker if you are able to change the wheel yourself and avoid the call out time..
If you ARE indeed a fan of using tyre foam, you could purchase a tin of the "Holts Tyreweld".
It is a lot less expensive than replacing the OEM goo and has a "No damage to tyre guarantee".
Myself, I carry a space saver wheel kit AND a large tin of the "Holts Tyreweld" in my boot, as a belt and braces approach.

Minor point of interest, my daughter had a puncture recently on a Sunday afternoon, and she doesn't have a spare. She told the AA she didn't have the gloop either but she's since found it. Anyway, the AA showed up ( - she'd have needed them whatever as she couldn't change a tyre), put on a spacesaver wheel they had in the van and led her to an open tyre place. They didn't take away the tyre for repair - though I suppose they can't carry spacesavers for all cars...
 
I’ve had 2 cars from new and negotiated a spare tyre on both (was lucky to have spares with all my previous second hand cars too). I’d always want a spare tyre over the gloop in case the tyre could be repaired.
I also carry a Ring 12v inflator in case any lose pressure over time or I need to adjust the spare.
 
The discussion has gone in many directions within this thread.
The main agenda is - Warranty for the included pump / Inflator.
I did call the local MG dealer (I bought my car from them) - they said they will get back to me but they have not (it has been a week).
I will chase them up again in the coming week and will report feedback. Thanks
