Had my new zs lr a week now and very happy, I am curious however…..the log book v5 arrived today and how would you know if you were buying a long range or standard range as no mention on the v5 - I am however happy I have what I paid for but was thinking more of when I sell / private pre loved examples

SR doesn't have the MG Pilot etc. hence no camera in the windscreen.

Thank you - you would have to be in the know if you were buying used ,
Yes, if someone is selling a LR the easiest way to tell is just look for the camera.

Are you sure that's correct? The only difference between SR and LR is the battery size. Did you mean SE? If so, then that still has MG Pilot. I think the only way to tell the difference between SR and LR is whether you can set a charge limit; SR is always 100% whereas LR can be changed to any %.

The fact the battery can slide or available range as for v5 the weight of the vehicle is shown?

^^ I think that this is the best way

Also on the LR, if you go to the charging screen, you are able to set the max charge %, you can't do this in the SR
I wonder if that's related to the difference in battery chemistry type e.g. the SR chemistry means that is actually beneficial to go to 100%...

Or maybe the reverse? Better for the LR to not be charged to 100% unless necessary.
Neither of these above statements are correct.

Wrong. Only difference is the battery (bigger on the LR) and motor power (more power on the SR).

Everything else is the same.
Please Excuse my senior moment, for some reason I thought I was still in the MG5 forum I had just been browsing.

I think that it is time to split the group’s into models. I don’t read any thread about mg4/5

Yes, the advice is only charge the LR to 100% if you need it aim for using it between 20 - 80% for shorter journeys. Strictly speaking the theory is that the batteries may degrade if left charged at 100% for extended periods

Just charge it 100% and use the car.

Just charge it 100% and use the car.
Or follow the manufacturers advice if you want protect your investment long term

Will charging in it to 100% rather that 80% really make a big difference? I have no idea, but if it doesn't impact how you use your car, why not err on the side of caution?

It's a non issue for me, I tend to change my cars at about year 6, but who knows what will happen in the future? We can be sure that new cars will have even greater range, so a 10 year old car with a 70% battery may be worth a lot less than one with a 85% battery

I get free charges at work, needing about 1 1/2 charges a week, I typically charge to 80% on Monday and to 100% on Friday as I tend to do lots of miles at the weekend
