Trophy vs SE headlights

Nothing like Matrix then which is my point. Autodip has been around for years. Dealer is just trying to make the headlights sound much fancier than they actually are. They're not even self levelling, even my old Seat Leon which didn't have auto dip technology had auto levelling LED's.

Maybe the video we seen is only Chinese then? Other than that feature I mention previously which I have seen working - then I see no other huge difference…

Called MG Mulan in China @3:30

If you look at Trophy headlights, it looks different to other versions. (They are like my Volvo XC60 with adaptive shadow technology = matrix). Pretty sure current Trophy cars have adaptive headlights. Whether it stays that way is another matter.

Drove my trophy at night the other day and it was definitely dipping the whole beam on both sides when it saw oncoming traffic.

Looks interesting. I'm going to have a drive in the dark tonight and see what happens.
I reckon you'll get what @t3rminalV does, just auto dipping the main beams. No shadowing technology where it tracks cars both oncoming and following and ensures no dazzling.

I very much doubt if they do indeed track the cars like Matrix technology does, the clue is in the manual levelling adjustment that is installed. MG might be saving that for the dual motor version or exclusive to just China. You'll get a light dance on startup if Matrix tech is installed.

My Brothers Tesla Y just auto dips, despite them having the Matrix hardware installed. Something to do with the US not currently allowing Matrix technology he said. He reckons it'll get enabled by a software update in time.

I don't think it does any of that from what I saw on my only night drive so far. I will look closer next night drive.

It does auto dip of course but I found it quite slow and it's a step back from my previous car.
Quite a few people with the old fashioned auto dip (which is what I believe MG4 has) have complained from other car makes that they get flashed by other drivers as the auto dip doesn't react fast enough.

So for the dealer who spoke with @DylanHalliday was completely incorrect of their statement saying that the headlights are "essentially the same" to Audi's Matrix system.....erm.....no they're not, not even close.

My car has Matrix lights and I am amazed on how good they are and how they track multiple cars giving me amazing visibility but yet don't dazzle other drivers. I've never once been flashed in two years of plenty of night driving. One person thought there was something wrong with them when they saw the light dance on start up haha.

Going from standard LED lights with autodip to Matrix if you pardon the pun is night and day different. Almost the same jump of going from Halogen to LED.

After a drive out in the dark this evening I can confirm that the Trophy lights are absolutely not matrix. However the autodip did seem to respond quickly to oncoming traffic and also closing on cars in front. Illumination was the best I've had in a car, even better than my old Qashqai with LED lights which was excellent.

Agree, the lights (SE LR) are really good. I'm sure the matrix headlights are a step up but these are everything I need.
