Has anyone used Tesla's Supercharger network? (I'm assuming the charger connections fit the MG ZS 2021.) I understand 15 sites are open to non-Teslas and I'd have to download an app to use it. I don't want to pay the £10.99 monthly charge to get a cheaper charge as I use the car mainly for short journeys around London. But I'm planning a 450 mile journey to Scotland and unless I can get fast charging I'll spend more time topping up on the journey than actually being in Scotland.

Others have had success with it, some good advice to be found

Late to the thread but we had our first very sucssesfull use of the Tesla Trumpinton Park & Ride just off the M11 near Cambridge. £19 to charge back up form 33miles to 145miles in around 30 mins. Very easy to use and I don't mind the price for the odd trip away from Sussex as it was so reliable. Peaked at 65KW but I know the car dictates the speed NOT the super charger. Many stalls free. Thanks.

Last month I used the Tesla chargers at Aviemore. Straightforward using their app. Only issue was the very short length of cable meant I had to position my ZS EV a couple of times before I could get the cable to the charge port.

I used one in Le Mans while on holiday. I paid the subscription but didn't end up using them again. Found cheaper chargers. Still, it got me out of a pickle.

In terms of use I found them slow to start. Had to move from the first as it didn't work. Once charging nothing to complain about.

Thanks for your advice. Much appreciated. Don

Let us know how you get on - it's always helpful to know if others encountered any issues. In particular any info on whether you have any struggles getting the cable to reach...I didn't come across many examples showing whether people had to park askew in the correct space to make use of it.

I'll have to take a good few long distance trips, and where I'm going it's these units that are most convenient.

I recently tried at the le shuttle flexiplus terminal in france. The cable could not reach, and the bays have high kerbs so I could not park at a jaunty angle.

Once as a test on my ZS mk1 when I had it.
Got decent speeds for the car.
Not tried since I got my 4 which should be easier due to charge port location

Just to update, we tried to use the Lakeside Tesla SuperChargers on Dec the 2nd in CarPark 8 on the way with all the family. Not so good this time. Had 4 goes on 3 diffrent stalls. Error every time on the app saying ‘ no car connected’

Something has changed I guess in the Tesla software or SC’s so we went off to the Gridserver site.

I hope Tesla sort this soon. Very frustrating not having a way to feed back to them this issue.

was it definitely a Tesla site that is enabled for "other" cars as there are only a handful across the UK which are actually configured for non-Tesla as well as Tesla

There's a big set in St Quentin in France, 20 chargers. Chargemap claims they are CCS compatible for none Teslas. Tried (several times) on two chargers, lots of clicking noises but no charge, app saying no car connected. Drove 2 mles down the road to Intermarche and charged no problem. This is on a 2021 ZS EV

I think you'll find you need to use tesla's own app to use the 'open ones'

Maybe chargemap is wrong
I have just tried at a Tesla forecourt in Cardiff. They informed me MG ZS are banned from their network as the CCS isn’t certified as standard by MG so that and one other MG model will not charge at all.

Unless this is a very recent change, this can't be right. MG ZS EVs have had firmware updates to enable Tesla supercharger charging, e.g. as reported (albeit indirctly) in this post:

From that post:
One forum member with a ZS EV facelift, has had a software update carried out that will now permit connection to the non Tesla units.

Strange. I will contact my MG dealer to see if I can get an update but the Tesla service guy said it was all ZS and Marvel models. So maybe if someone can confirm that they can still charge one of these.

It's not.

A correctly updated ZS will work fine with Tesla Superchargers.

MG dealers just need to apply the latest updates properly.

Thankyou. I appreciate the updates. Maybe he was meaning it doesn’t comply without the update on those models. I will go and get the update done asap.
