MG HS PHEV
Took delivery of a new MG HS plug in PHEV last month and really struggling with the EV mode. I have owned Mitsubishi Outlanders PHEV’s for the last 7 years whereby the switch on EV and it stays on EV until the charge has run out all you really hit the revs! My new MG keeps dropping out of EV and struggling to keep it in EV mode. If I turn off the HVAC system I can get it into EV mode but then the windows keep steaming up…. The minute I turn on the fan it drops out of EV?? Even more weird is that when going down a steep hill in EV mode it drops back to AUTO?

I want to drive locally and on my commute to work (10miles) on EV as I did previously with the Mitsubishi….. any suggestions or advice on what I’m doing wrong ?

You are doing nothing wrong and there is nothing more you can do to stop the window steaming up apart from running the heating system. In winter you will not run in EV all the time only summer.

As mentioned before, if you put the HVAC on LO then the ice will not start when the fan comes on ,but it blows the outside air in.
When it's frosty I start the car and put the HVAC onto 18-20 c ( the ice starts) and Scape the windows , then once I set off I manually switch to ev mode. If the engine is hot enough ( for your selected temperature) it will switch if not it won't.I keep trying and after a few mins it will switch. It's a shame it needs the ice running to give heat an independent heater would make the car even better.
Going down a long steep hill does this and the general thinking is it's to stop the regen motor from overheating .
There is a downhill button on the mg, I wonder if anyone has tried using this going downhill and does it make any difference?

i believe that the law has been tightened up regarding windows misting up also removing snow from lights windows and roof / bonnet which people miss doing Or just a round hole to look through, better to run the ICE than £1000 fine and points on you license.
