MG4 Trophy Focus Warning Alert (Fix incoming)

So will cars that have had the sensor removed achieve a lower NCAP rating then?
Pretty sure that won't happen - for the "standard" build for the car, it will feature the sensor that NCAP will rate against. Unless they're now choosing not to include it in the future and/or with the rating?

We don't know what the actual reason for them being removed is, maybe they were actually faulty?
I picked my car up on Friday and it has the sensor.

So I'm playing Devils Advocate here, please excuse me.

I've just looked on MG's UK website and it mentions in the spec about "Driver Attention Alert" is included.

If the sensor has been removed or de-activated is that not now false advertising and should be reported to Trading Standards?

I've read posts of people picking up cars with no sensor at all.

MG need to be communicating better here IMO.

From what I've seen there are two kinds of Driver Attention Alert - passive and active. The camera is the active type, no camera = passive, so probably not a lie there...

I see (learning all the time, I don't own the car). So if I was buying the Trophy which I guess is supposed to have the 'active' type, would I not be entitled to a discount if the system no longer exists if I order new?

Shy bairns have nee fun, as me Mam used to say. ;)

Translated - if you don't ask, you don't get ... but don't expect to get any luck.

It only says it has a driver's attention alert on all models. It doesn't specify what it is

haha - that's true there.

So I've dug a little further (sorry, I know I'm annoying). On page 75 of the online manual it says that there's a camera monitoring.

That not the case now then?

My point here is that, MG has dropped a big one here with this system and I don't think are doing enough to rectify.

I think I'm going to pop into my local dealer and see what faces they pull haha.

They'll offer you one with the annoying camera that's been rejected 😁

My dealer mentioned that MG had added the system as a helping hand to adding safety features to the car, and allowing it to hit a higher NCAP rating

I'm sure when it's patched in the software, and works as intended (can be turned off), it'll be ok
Yes. Of course it may be that the car did better with NCAP than they expected and they can remove the system (and save money and grief) without affecting the overall score.

Slight hole in you argument. The SE doesn't have it anyway and as far as I know it will have the same NCAP rating.

Have retested the mg4 luxury (Trophy), and this time the bongs was disabeled. Drove it 300km mostly on B roads and some gravel roads in 10 hours (Had it from 1700 to 0330 when I put it back on charge at the dealer). The range predicted by the car actually increased while driving, until I tested the performance, then the km/miles suddenly dropped fast (you know it wil actually indicate 170kmt/105mph at full trottle).😉 Think I could live with this one.
Anyway we are now in the prosess to order a Luxury, posible in Andes Grey.😊

I did my first motorway drive in my trophy and experienced the full horror of the driver monitoring system. If I dared look at my speedometer, mirrors or blind spot it beeped. It was terribly distracting. Absolutely terrible software which does not work at all. I emailed MG and got the standard reply others have had saying it’s a safety feature and it can’t be turned off! Great car absolutely ruined by this stupid feature. Do they not test it at all?

You must have got one of the first batch as the later Trophy's don't have the infer-red monitor on top of the steering wheel binnacle. For those that have I believe there is a software update to desensitise it.

In the meantime you can turn off audio notifications (which stays off. The system itself can be turned off but will come back on when you restart the car).

I have even forgotten about this one. I had to laugh when I read beckyldav's post and remembered what my dealer said when I raised it.

He said "what they've found is for people wearing glasses the software and sensors were getting confused....."

I kid you not, it was very difficult for me to keep a straight face but just about managed it haha.
