Hi,

Just wondered if anyone has had their MG5 long enough or done enough miles to notice any battery degradation. I am not talking about the Guessometer, but the actual range you get.

Please reply with the age and mileage of the vehicle to enable comparisons.

Thank you.

Here in Ireland, a few taxi drivers are keeping an informal tally so E&OE....

All MG5 less than 1.5 years old.
1. 80,000 km (~ 50,000 miles) SoH 97%. Home and Rapid charging, sometimes twice a day. Lots of motorway driving
2. 31,000 km (~ 19,000 miles) SoH 99%. 10% Home/90% Rapid charging as required. Suburban driving
3. 26,000 km (~ 16,000 miles) SoH 100%. Home charging every night. Mix of city & motorway driving

Got my car serviced at 47,000 miles. It's a LR exclusive.

SOH of the battery is 98%.
What kind of mix of AC/DC charging are you doing?

I'm looking at 15k commuting a year, so I'll hit the mileage limit before the 7 year warranty. But this far it's 99% AC charging. Selling the car on at 70k miles at 5 years old will be easier if the SOH is still in the high 90s.

I got 97% at 11,000 miles one year in. Apparently many arrive at 99% SOH
I'm 100% at 11,000 miles in 16 months.
According to car scanner at least:)

I'd say between 10-15 rapid charge and the rest home charging.
Never seen above 47kw speed so perhaps it's been kind to the battery.

Re charging.... Approx 30% rapid charging, with the rest done using my home charger overnight.

Although I have had my MG5ev for almost 2 years I have only done 10,000 miles. My battery S. O. H. Is still reading 100% via obd. I have only needed to use a DC. Charger once and mostly just use the granny charger. Can anybody tell me the resolution of the SOH reading (ie does it drop to 99.9% or 99%.). I try not to let the charge fall below 20% and only go above 80% when needed. ie long journey or cell balancing.

MG5 LR with 20k miles and 100% SOH

Mix of rapid and fast charges, Scottish weather has some upsides apparently.

Range is dependent on so many factors it's hard to tell. What I have noticed is that the first 5-8% or so from a 100% charge drops very quickly. These days it seems to be more the 8% than the 5%, not sure exactly why but I think it could be that the battery is reporting '100% full' but it's no longer getting to actual 100%. After the initial drop it normalises and falls as I'd expect.
18 months old 5sr 47k miles.

It may be due to the weather and the batteries being stone cold at the start, as they warm up the performance improves. The other day at 0c I lost the first 5% after just 5.6 miles.

I saw when they had the mgzs balancing issues that the car does extra balancing when it's in ready mode for the first few percent. (I think it's down to 96%).
