Project OBD2 - Mobile App v1.2.1 and later

My guess is the SoH is correct (your dealer will be able to confirm this if you ask them to plug your car in). Is your car high mileage? Do u charge to 100% SoC often as my mkii long range ZS does require a full battery balance every 4-6 weeks to balance its cells although I understand your car uses different battery technology and can be regularly charged to 100% will no ill effects. I’d recommend charging to 100% as often as you can as you have LFP batteries which are happy to accept 100% charge on a regular basis
Only done 2760 miles so far, and we always charge to 100%, my question at what point do I reach out to dealer, I understand battery will degrade but this seems a bit much. Thanks

The Thai app is programmed for the Thai bms not the uk. So SoC isn’t correct but SoH should be. Is your car a brand new mkii zs or mki zs? Do you rapid charge a lot as this does effect degradation of the back pack.
Hi
I've been off the forum for a while, but what's this about the SoC not being correctly shown in the Thai App?
I recently on ZS mk1 screen grabbed my SoC on the Thai App a few miles before I got to MG where I saw the SoC on their MG laptop. App was 85.3, MG was 83.5, which seems about right.
There's 2 SoC PIDs, the real (hidden) one and the one that is shown to the driver, could this be the confusion?

I’ve got a MG ZS EV MKii, I have yet to check the SoH but will do later today. Curious thou, when you say battery balance… what’s the process. I seldom use rapid chargers but have used my fast charger (7kW) home charger since I got the car in September.

I only charge to max 90%, 10% of the time (otherwise 80%) I don’t let my charge fall below 40% unless caught off guard (5% if the time). Although tempted to push to 90% more often in the winter months.

I digress… main question how do I balance the battery properly?

Wait until first service to discuss

The Thai battery management system (BMS) works on different parameters to EU/UK cars so for example all EU/UK cars if they have the up to date BMS software should run max battery voltage at 449v and not up to date 456v. Thai cars run at a different voltage again so ‘their’ PiD formulae calculates a different SoC to us here in UK. It’s displayed at about 97.3% on the app when car is at 100%.

I’m pretty sure that the SoC you’re talking about at 97.3% is the true SoC, there is also another PID that shows 100%.
As far as the bms is concerned it tells you publicly it’s 100% charged as that is when the battery is charged as full as it will allow it. The BMS also knows the real battery SoC & shares it via another PID too.
We did a test some time ago when the new voltage bms came out, and got the true battery SoC at “100%” & at “0%”, therefore identifying how the bms had shifted the used battery capacity range within the full battery allowance.

I am happy with the information we get with this app.
My next project is to have complete access from the infortainment system.

Just need to tidy up a few loose ends.

Could also browse the internet (legally) while on the move (eg. Waiting at lights or in queue) and type messages ...although that's probably easier with Google dictation keyboard.

how do you project the app to screen ? via additional phone or directly ?

Hi,

I tried this app on my MG4, the 2.9.0 version as the PlayStore block this application in my country (France).

I am interrested about the SOH, however, nothing is working, maybe because data adresses are not the same. How could we help you to support MG4 car on your app ? Do you need some data ? I have an odb adapter Vgate icar Pro bluetooth 4.0.

Thanks

Thank you a lot, this app is fantastic.
It showing errors codes in modules very nice.
Do you know how to clear errors codes ?
