Just to confirm this isn’t the fault that affects the early adopters (although I am an early adopter). 1600 miles in and now I’ve had a warning flash up ⚠️ that there’s a Driver Monitor System Fault. No more information other than that.

I’ve checked the handbook and it says that either it’s not working at the moment or it’s failed for some reason.

I suppose I’m not complaining too much as it means I’m not getting the constant ‘Please concentrate on driving’ notification. But just wondering what’s up with it really.

Has this happened to anyone else? I’m hoping it just disappears, but who knows?

A lot of Trophy cars have this problem, mine has and been told awaiting fix....

This is exactly how my car works, which I collected today. I think it's a good short-term compromise until MG produce the final fix for the early batches of cars.

I’ve not seen anyone else mention that it’s not working, although happy to be proved wrong. (I’ve seen lots mention it keeps beeping at them telling them to concentrate, but not that it’s stopped working and there’s a fault).

The original problem was that the sensor was issuing alerts even when drivers looked left and right at junctions, for example. So, the sensor is way too sensitive. I did experience the same problem in a Toyota BZ4X that I test drive in a few months back. Switching the sensor off does nothing on the cars that have the problem so a more permanent fix is due from MG. More recent Trophy MG4 deliveries do not have the sensor installed, which confirms the sensor is troublesome.

Look at the sensor through your phone's camera and if it's working you will see the inferred lights light up. If they aren't it could be they've been switched off by a software update.

But there’s no over the air software updates, and I’ve not been to the dealer to have any.

I took a video earlier though and no purple lights. It’s only today it’s stopped working - about 1650 miles done.

Yup, I agree with this, but this isn’t the issue I have now.

The driver awareness telling me to concentrate has been going off for the past 2 months or so (as most people have), now - it says there is a fault, and I’m not getting all the pings and dings (although I had turned the volume of those off anyways).

My Trophy same mileage has the same fault now (not sure if I'm happy or not) MG Warrington said they've not had anyone else with the same issue - not taken it in yet, not sure if I want too tbh

Would this sort of warning ⚠️ be considered a dashboard warning light and result in an MOT failure in future? Or is MOT dash light failures restricted to specific systems like ABS?

Mines the same it was disabled by the dealer when new, so that warning comes up on startup my friends mg4 from the same dealer is the same we are not bothered sure there will be a update when the first service is due 👌

tbh I'm hoping for a software update long before that.
My friend and wife have just bought a trophy and they both don't have the Driver Monitor System fitted at all now, so I'd very much like mine removed

What a Great question 👏

Presumably too - IF it would be a fail in 3 years time - then logic I think says it would be a fail today ie the car is unroadworthy now ? 😢

If it doesn't work then all you need removing is the yellow triangle. I'm sure they could do that quite easily?

At the very least, yes, but I would like the silly infra-red sensor from the steering column removed if it's no longer being used. Just gets in the way

It's always been an issue on my Trophy

Mine used to pop the warning message up all the time and then, for no reason, it changed to a fault. No software updates to account for the change of behaviour. I much prefer the fault to the constant nagging!
