MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

How did you fit the rear camera? Is there a convenient usb to plug into? Thanks in advance :0)
I'm not as supple as I used to be and I wear varifocals so the task was done with more than a little unsavoury language.:rolleyes:

My camera is a Nextbase 512GW with a rear camera, used on my Leaf previously. The rear camera connects directly to the front camera so I ran the cable above the head lining over the windscreen, along the nearside of the car behind the door seals and roof lining, through the nearside flexible conduit to the tailgate (the most difficult part as the conduit is not huge but less congested than the offside one!). I unclipped the cover at the top of the tailgate, brought the cable out there and onto the camera.

My Trophy LR ordered May 22 turned up on Tuesday. Looks great. Slight problem with both passenger side door locks, but still a fantastic drive, better than I remembered. Arrived with all cables and a set of car mats.
Congratulations lovely car you done well to get it so quickly happy motoring

Think there is going to be further delays chatting to my dealer mg won't be in a rush to get them out with how much there loosing on the cars with the increase in costs.

Would not be surprised in the slightest if they start cancelling orders i hope not for everyone involved. i just think mg did not think they would sell as much as they did.
I was shown a rather dodgy looking internal memo today which I could not have a copy of stating that prices would not be honoured. Coincidently, this letter was dated one day after I asked about my order taken in March that was apparently on a boat in August but is now not even built as of two days ago…
Would love to know if anyone else has had this correspondence with their dealer

It was mentioned in the podcast.

Hi @Miles Roberts CG and @Sam Luscombe - is there any chance one of you could please help clarify from what specific date, MG not honouring agreed ZS purchase prices commenced from? This was mentioned on the recent podcast but not made clear this is a blanket approach for all current outstanding orders, unless I misheard..? I just figured it'd be for new ones :(

Our dealership got in touch to say that our car (Blue LR TC) is now in production (after over a year) and expected March (although was realistic that, that timeline has the potential to slip as they are still waiting on cars expected in December).

They wanted to be completely honest and transparent about the situation (and following the forum/podcast I was expecting what was coming), so we had quite a long conversation regarding pricing etc. They confirmed that MG were no longer honouring pricing on historical orders – we both agreed this was pretty unfair given the long wait and bad for the brands reputation – but we know that with supply and demand out of kilter, and keen pricing, it favours the manufacturer currently. He was hoping this decision might be reversed if enough customers complained, but it seems unlikely as what have MG got to lose?

As a small dealership they have taken the decision currently to take the hit on price and are going to cover the original order price at a loss to themselves which was pretty admirable – this assumes that the pricing/circumstances don’t change massively between now and delivery. He explained the loss they would therefore make on each car sold. As the finance has also changed (and now no manufacturer contribution) they wouldn’t be able to offer that incentive (£1,500) if taking out MG finance. PX would also be revalued. Grant is still good as long as the car arrives by June. So probably ~£2,000 worse off over all (excluding higher finance which we were planning to pay off anyway).

Seemed a pretty genuine conversation, and matched other recent posts on the forum about the pricing. They were clearly not happy about the situation either as they have been strung along with false timelines and limited information – and things changing at very short notice. They were doing the right thing to help customers and protect their reputation locally. Hopefully it all plays out that way when the car arrives (and hopefully still has a sunroof at that point)!

Fair play to the dealer but they shouldn't be put in that position.

So even old orders are not price protected, just furthers my idea that MG do not want to get these orders out to us.

I agree - assuming at face value it was as I was told, I said it was pretty unfair on them and I wouldn't expect them to operate at a loss to prop up the brand which can likely afford it, so I definitely sympathised - I'm sure they make plenty of calls which are a lot more difficult in that respect.

Sounds like your dealership are pretty good. Mine have been quite unapologetic and quite deceitful if I’m honest. It takes the shine off of what is a really good product

OctopusEV have just informed me that MG have officially announced that they are prioritising other models over the MG ZS 😔 and are advising that I
1. Switch to the MG4 for Q1 delivery or
2. Rent a car in the mean time (I'm borrowing a van) for possible March delivery or
3. Cancel
I ordered a ZS Trophy LR from Octopus a week ago and they said they had 2 already on order and available in specific colours (making me more likely to believe them), due June 2023. But not taking any new orders... reading the posts here that is feeling a bit unlikely haha

Ordered my MG ZS EV Trophy Connect Long Range on 11 January 2022 at Masters MG in Croydon. Was told to expect delivery in March. Dealership closed in April and was moved to Glyn Hopkin. Started receiving monthly calls with updates, this stopped in September. Now being told to expect delivery in February 2023. I have escalated with the dealership and MG but getting nothing back. Is this typical, any tips on how to address this? Was thinking of forgetting it but I am worried I will get a similar experience elsewhere. Thoughts?
Happy to report picking up the car tomorrow, which I am receiving as a result of a cancellation.

Just been told my MG is now Sept 2023 it was order Sept 2022 and the original date to be delivered was April 2023 :(
If it’s an consolation a lot in the forum received their cars far quicker than others and though the rule of thumb is about It a year waiting it does seem very random. Personally I’m still waiting since last Feb. I think there may still be some waiting since late 2021. Good luck I hope your car arrives early than you were advised.
