Got an account with BP pulse and use their 50kW charge units.

Every single time I plug in, the car takes roughly 20kWh and then kills the charge, with am error code 8c.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Is this on the same charge point or other BP ones and what battery percentage does it start and stop at?

Regardless... its every BP unit I've used and it doesn't matter what the starting level is, it just gets to about 20-21kWh and cuts out, showing error code 8c.

There was a woman in a 69 plate zs a few days ago near Heathrow and the same happened to her.

If you've got a Gen 1, this is a common fault with charging ports that have not been updated as part of the BMS update.

You'll need to go to a dealer and tell them to actually look at the firmware tick boxes, and make sure the charging port option is selected when updating the BMS firmware, otherwise it skips it. Had to force my dealer to actually look closely at the update system.

Since then no problems with charging on Pulse stations, but when I got it, it wouldn't go over 20kWh and would then just stop the charge.

Where do you get your interesting info?

It was all over the internet, it was part of the faulty BMS update on Gen 1 vehicles.

Dealers weren't fully looking at the BMS update and hadn't been briefed about the new charging socket firmware.

It took my dealer 2 attempts to get the charging port working properly, only when I told them to look at the software closely did they find the update for the charging socket. Since they did it, no issues at BP chargers.

I've read about the BMS updates but didn't see anything about charge ports except the change to allow charging when unlocked as well as locked...

I goggled just - ZS EV BMS UPDATE CHARGING PORT but didn't find anything immediate..

Do you have a link I can investigate plse?

You won't, I found out that the the dealer hadn't updated by charging port firmware by calling another dealership (near Manchester) and asking what the MG service database held about my vehicle, that's when I was told about the port issues.

Hardly all over the internet then 😂
I wondered why I'd never read /heard anything about port updates before 👍🏻

The faulty BMS update was, which is how I knew something was wrong with my car.
