Bought my MG4 from Glyn Hopkin in Cambridge in Novermber. Went to start MG4 this morning and noticed that it had failed to charge overnight. It will not charge at all. The low-voltage battery charging system malfunction warning light was on. Phoned MG and they told to phone AA. Phoned AA and after holding for 45 minutes told nothing they could do. Phoned MG they told me they could not book the car in till the 16th Jan that’s two weeks away and they did not have not have a replacement car for me to use in the meantime. Disgusting service.

It may be a pain but go back to the AA. If you have a flat battery (12V) they can at least jump start you and work out what's happening from there.

Can you try another nearby dealer as you're not obligated to use the same one

Sorry if this sounds sexist, but ... do you have a male other-half or friend who could phone on your behalf? (It may be that they are being sexist and not treating your claim properly).

Reading between the lines it appears you can open the car and everything comes to life. Try leaving the car "on" for half-an-hour and see if that recharges the 12v battery enough so you can then plug it in to the wall charger.

I tried starting to charge the car from my charger App and it worked. Left it for ten minutes charging than turned it of started car with no warning signs coming up so I appear to have resolved it but will still have it checked over for peace of mind. Thanks for all the suggestions

As an inquest, why did AA say they couldn’t help?I thought that‘s what they are there for!!

They said they could do no repairs with electric cars other than give a boost charge if battery is flat or pick it up and take it to a garage

I cannot understand why women are treated like idiots when it comes to cars. My wife was told that our vehicle needed a new brake master cylinder. It just wanted a top up as the pads had worn down! Surely if a person, male or female is not knowledgeable they should be helped not taken advantage of. My Father had absolutely no interest in the mysterious workings of the ICE!

Car dealers / garages taking advantage of non mechanical thinking people is like rogue tradesmen taking advantage of the elderly. It stinks!

As a Trans woman who worked as a firefighter for many years. I do find it funny that since transition so many men now do treat me and all other women as idiots.I alway knew it was so but actually living the experience really brings it home. Although it does give me great pleasure to point out the error of their ways.😂

Sabine Schmitz - now that's one heck of a lady driver. Managed to stuff a Transit van round the Nuremberg Ring is a shade over 10 minutes.

My low voltage charging light failure came on. 5th fault for my mg4 so it’s now gone back to the dealer and I’ve rejected it. No matter what I tried it wouldn’t resolve itself and I got to the dealer with the 12v battery reading less than 8v, so would not have started again! They are either going to give me a new car or a refund.

There is a video online testing EVs left over night in extreme cold, the put the cars in containers in Lapland, the temp went down to -35 (not happening in UK, except Braemar maybe)
There were a few models of car tested, they went to the MG4 in the morning and nothing worked, they eventually got it open and put a meter on the 12v battery and it was completely dead.
All the other cars were fine but the cold really impacted the 4.
Begs the question of is there a fault causing a drain or is it just a battery that's really vulnerable to cold temps.

If you could drive the car back to the dealers (admittedly I am assuming) and the 12v battery was at 8v then either the 12v battery is kaput or the dc/dc converter is faulty. Did they initially tighten the battery connectors or replace the 12v battery because once below about 10 - 12v for any period the battery will degenerate quickly and fail?
