New MG4 Shipment?

My dealer now tells me that my reservation (SE Long Range) now has no estimated date.
(Was 'weeks' at start of September and 'next fortnight' in October)

I'm still waiting on my MG SE Long Range in Black which I ordered at the end of August.

I managed to get through to my original sales rep last week. He tells me that as of the end of last week, he received a message from MG stating that all 2022 reservations are in the process of being delivered.

Based on the information he had at hand though, he couldn't give me an ETA, and reckoned a wait of up to 8 weeks from now could be possible. The showroom has despatched a couple of cars over the last few months though, so I'm under the impression that deliveries are sudden and unpredictable. He also says that the cars sold in the last couple of months haven't had the faults the first run of cars did. (oil leakage, etc)

I was in the same boat (no pun intended regarding ships etc :) )

went in to see my dealer on Saturday, he gave the same info you got from yours, i.e. nothing really, so I told him I was now going to look at Hyundai Kona and Renault megane (the MG garage is part of cars 2, and on the same site as both the others)

the Hyundai garage had a Kona at tilbury docks with a two week delivery. The Renault had a fabulous 'launch' edition in the showroom, which after a test drive and a little haggle they offered to sell me.

I am fortunate that I could (just) afford to pay a fair amount more, but feel so much better knowing that I actually have a car that I will pick up on Thursday - yay!

as I've mentioned elsewhere me cancelling my mg4 will now no doubt open the flood gates and there will be a surplus with a week or so :)

I am in the same position as you regarding delivery of my Trophy, which I ordered at the beginning of September. If it gets to the end of January/early February then I am going to put off delivery until March so that I can get a 23 plate.

I ordered a MG4 SE LR Holborn Blue on the 7th Sept. Told the usual delivery dates which got extended every time I asked.
Then was told in Dec they had been allocated a SE SR in Blue.
I haven’t had a car since August, so re-evaluated what I needed and decided to change my order and get the SR..
this was delivered on the 9th Jan and I picked it up today.
looking at the CoC, Certificate of Conformity, date of manufacture is the 10/12/22. I take it this would be 12th Oct 2022. So Three months from build to delivery.
An interesting thing the salesman did say was I had made a good choice as it seems MG aren’t making SE LR going forward. They will have the SE SR and Trophy only.
not sure how existing orders for SE LR will stand here If it is true.
Watch this space.

Might be another car available after I reject mine. Dealer still has not rung me about looking at it. 4 issues and nothing. To top it off this dealer has not paid the part exchange finance off so they will be trying to sell a car thats still got finance on.

Have you chased? As from me picking the car up on the 16th Dec I've been in touch every 3-4days (except over Xmas where I chased once) seeing where we are with parts and got all my issues dealt with today at Cars 2 Barnsley

Chased them but get nothing back. I have had to do all the chasing every step of the way. two people got told about the issues but then silence. I was going to buy a MG5 as well but they can stick that sale up where the sun dont shine. From letting me go with no insurance to issues they choose to ignore its a dealer I certainly would not recommend

Ordered 10th October 2022 and was told a delivery date of the end of January 2023.

Emailed dealer and was told no info on the delivery.

It's starting to be like the wait time for the ZS all over again.

If nothing early March then I might shop around for used Tesla model 3 SR

Strange that they would still be advertising the long range on their website if this is true. All-New MG4 EV | Fully Electric Hatchback

Hi all, I have got an update. finally i have been given estimated delivery date of 16 weeks from now. Let's see how this go :).
I ordered my MG4 Trophy edition on Saturday and was told the lead time was around 16 weeks unless theres a cancellation which gets reassigned.

Just for information,

"SAIC Motor, the state-owned automaker, partnered with the Chinese shipping giant COSCO and the port operator Shanghai International Port Group to set up Guangzhou Yuanhai Car Carrier Transportation, described as a “vehicle supply chain” company "

Source article.

Further to this, "Guangzhou Yuanhai Automobile Shipping, which now has 21 car carriers on order. The orders are mainly to ensure the safety of China's auto export supply chain in the case of a lack of foreign PCTCs available for charter."

As someone who pre-ordered, I'm now halfway through week 24 of 16.
Makes me feel better, I'm approaching the end of week 19 since pre-order (17 weeks since order was confirmed). My dealer reckons the lead time is now around 26 weeks. I'm resigned to waiting until March and the new reg letter.
