My husband has the Tesla 3 LR and I have the Trophy. I have driven his many many times and I love it, he has had zero issues, yes there are the odd grizzle about seat comfort or phantom braking but in general he’s not regretted his switch for a moment. I was stubborn about his switch to EV at the time but with all the initiatives available when he was buying it made complete sense. Driving that car made me feel like my BMW X3 was like driving a fuel guzzling monster, on our home charging system the Tesla cost on average 2p a mile mine was 25p at the pump and I hate fuelling up with a passion so we switched mine to this new super hyped car. I didn’t pay much after trade in and it all started well.
I still don’t compare, I don’t think that it is fair to do that. I’ve had issue upon issue with the IT of my MG. I still want my chassis panel fixed, I want to be able to turn off lane assist and it stay off because I say so! I want my in car temp to be ambient. I want MG to wake up and treat me like a valued customer and show transparency in what they are doing to my car. All of that said and when you get down to brass tacks I prefer the drive of my Trophy, it feels smaller, it handles so well and it spins on a hair pin in tight spaces, it doesn’t launch me like a rocket if I am accidentally a bit heavy on the pedal. I mean we take out whichever car we feel like on the drive and I rarely drive the Tesla these days. MG just need to listen to their customers to get this right.
Just adding that I know this is more of a review than comparing range but I think with price drop on the Tesla more people will be thinking should I get what feels more affordable or stretch for the (niggles ironed out) Tesla. I think if I was up and down the country and the Tesla network not available to me then that would push me towards Tesla as charging on the go is so much more reliable. The range on the Trophy is good but when charging is generally advised at only 80% then that’s a factor.
