Has anyone had a new windscreen fitted yet after a chip?
My insurance links me with Auto Windscreens but there site does not recognise the MG4?

Has anyone had any joy getting a new one or should I refer to my dealer?
Thanks

I take it your chip is beyond repair? Some of the windscreen repair places can work wonders with their fillers

The glass company will source the replacement (if it needs one) from MG on such a new model.

Thanks for replies, looks like I may have to call them tomorrow as like I say their website does not recognise the MG4 on their data base. Hopefully they can resin repair.

My colleague and I both drive MG4's. His screen broke after 2 days on the road, its booked in next week for a replacement screen. We will see how it goes. Its then booked in for the screen Camera to be re calibrated back at the main dealer.

Get them to point it skywards and enjoy no lane keep assist or speed sign nagging... bliss.
This is an interesting point, does anyone know what would happen if a sticker was placed on the windscreen obscuring the camera? I’m sure it would throw a warning but would that one warning be better or worse than LKA etc?

Block the screen camera area and you'll get warnings for (and disablement of): LKA, ACC/TJA, Signs, AEB, etc. ... basically almost anything that uses radar also uses the camera for confirmation. If the camera can't see anything then the car disables all those features (with warnings).

Physically blocking the lens will cause the system to throw a tizzy with warnings going off. Pointing the camera angle up just robs it of any images the system in programmed to look for, it goes dormant and bothers you no more. ;)

If it just gives a visual warning without constant binging and bonging it may be worth it to stop it trying to drive you off the road on country lanes ?

Getting back on track, what was the outcome of your call?

Auto Windscreen looked at damage and said more of a scratching and not deep enough for a repair. Interestingly he did say that it was probably caused by road rock salt and pointed to amother area with same markings on screen. Also a paint chip on the A pillar. Reckons getting a lot of Asian cars with similar damage to screens.
I do recall now overtaking a gritter on A19 night before I noticed the damage.

Has said its safe to drive and wont crack and he would wait till the spring and request a change then as more than likely get a few more marks from road gritting. Also more likely to have the stock and will be on their system by then.

Sounds like Chinese glass is as bad as their rubber!!!

There has been a post in the past where auto glass could not find a replacement glass until the owner got a part number from his dealer. Just a point and Agee about the glass seem not as good, but how many glass maker are in the world.

I had a broken windscreen replaced by Autoglass after a 10 week wait on the replacement. Autoglass failed to recalibrate the sensors so it was off to MG main dealer who also failed to recalibrate and then I recieved the call that they had broke the new windscreen. 3rd windscreen delivered today was damaged so just waiting on the 4th on a 6 month old car. Fingers crossed the calibration works once this one is fitted.

I would ask them to compensate you for your trouble - not in cash but with a free service or something.
