WHATS UNDER THE COVER ON AN MG5?

Has anyone considered what impact some of these modifications may have on their car insurance?
I suspect they will wipe their hand clean of you if they have the slightest indications that any components may have been damaged by a box full of cables etc moving in an accident. Also their will be claims that removing or modifying any support frames will alter the structure of the car. the use of electrically conductive materials will also be another opportunity for insurance claims to be void
Be warned.

A point I have made on other threads from lighting to wheels.

Insurance companies cannot just wipe their hands over accidents where modifications have been made. 1st of all they have to show relevance so for example changed courtesy light are not likely ever to be of influence.
Even when a mod might be of interest normally the 3rd parties are still covered but your own costs may not be. On top of that they could in principle sue you for their costs.
Free reign over mods has long gone, you need to know what you are doing and get the insurance company to agree. I am an engineer myself and doubt that the removal of the brace would be significant but I DON’T KNOW! So I wouldn’t remove it.

My type 2 cable fits neatly in the space where a spare wheel would be if I had got around to getting one (I will, probably dreckly after the first puncture). The downside is its a bit inaccessible if the boot has stuff and/or the dog in it, but so far over 9 months I haven't used it, so hey ho. (only used the granny charger three times too - but that seems more useful)
Assuming that’s with the boot floor on the higher setting? I tend to have mine on the low setting as the dog crate fits better! Also, is the cable in a bag or just loosely coiled? I could have a look myself but it’s tipping down! 😂

I hardly use the bagged up charging cable and mine was rolling around in the boot too. I've not removed anything and it now sits on top of the plastic cover under the bonnet, freeing up the boot for different junk.

I use it so infrequently I'll probably forget where it is when I need it...
On top of the cover? Doesn’t the cable slide about?

Type 2 in the side pocket of the boot, used a couple of times when trying out the supermarket chargers.

Granny charger inside the spare wheel, never used. I ought to check it works at least.

Most use a bungee cord to hold it under the bonnet

Type 2 on the cover under the bonnet. Used often - never heard - never moved - perfect 👍

Its coiled around the gubbins that fills the space where the wheel could be (a lump of grey polystyrene with cutouts. Also I don't think it is above the height of the gubbins so I imagine it would be ok with the lowered boot floor.

Still never used it,but I know its there if ever the need arises - I notice some slow public chargers don't provide a cable, but when I need a charge on the go I find a fast (40-50kW) one. But that is only once or sometimes twice a month that I need one. Just coming up to 20k miles from new (still just inside the low cost servicing plan)

Apologies for late reply and thanks for the information. I’ve put mine under the bonnet see photo. Seems quite comfy there and saves having to empty the boot!

When you say "when I need a charge on the go I find a fast (40-50kW) one." are you meaning DC Rapid charger with CCS or 43 kW AC Rapid charger with a captive Type 2 Plug?
