Vanarama Issues

..., Now is the absolute wrong time to buy an EV until one see's were the market is gonna go, ...
There's always something around the corner that stops us doing something now and so we end up with nothing.
I won't upgrade my phone cos there will be something better in a few months, I'm just waiting for this, I'm just waiting for that, not going to buy a house in case prices go down.....etc. etc. etc.

FYI - I've just had this email from Vanarama... (I ordered mid Jan 2022 and according to the dealer - my order was assigned to a pre-existing order placed by the dealer on 22/11/2021

Email update just now...

Hello Gary,

We are very sorry to be writing to you about your MG ZS order again, and apologise once more for the inconvenience you have experienced as a result of MG’s manufacturing and supply chain issues.

Throughout the ongoing discussions with MG and our attempts to solve these issues, we have insisted on being completely transparent with our customers. MG has now informed us they have 11,000 ZS orders of which they will only be able to build 6,000 vehicles. As a result, MG will not be able to fulfil all of our customer orders that they have in the system. MG has advised that Vanarama will get an allocation of these vehicles, but at this stage we are unable to clarify which specifications they are and how
many of each we will get.

We know how incredibly frustrating this is for all our affected customers and we are deeply dissatisfied with the level of service you have received as a result of the issues MG is experiencing. We know the knock-on effect this is having for both our customers and staff and it is something we are working on as a top priority to find the best resolution for you.

From today, we will be calling all our MG ZS customers directly to explain and discuss your options. There are a lot of you in the same situation and we will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please be assured this is our team’s sole focus and they will work with you to find the best solution, including presenting you with a selection of alternative vehicles from our wide range of cars currently in-stock and ready to deliver.

Once again, we understand that this situation is not acceptable and apologise for the inconvenience you have experienced as a result of MG’s manufacturing and supply chain issues. We will be in touch as quickly as possible to explain and discuss your options and we completely understand why your patience is running out.

Thanks,
The Vanarama Team

Not sure what's been said previous but seems pretty upfront, going by loads of comments in MG car threads MG's communication is atrocious, it would seem vanarama as a customer has experienced this also.
There are numerous members in the MG4 threads who cancelled ZS EV orders and switched to the MG4 because of airing for a year or more

Jip just got the same, what an absolute joke.

Interesting, thanks.

I appreciate it's frustrating for Vanarama customers, and they perhaps could've handled the situation better. But when I read the complaints on here I'm baffled as to how much leverage they think this lease company has. At the end of the day MG have more sales than they can fulfil, so all the threats in the world won't go far.

Poor form on MG's part really, IMO. That they can barely meet half of the outstanding is ridiculous. And when it comes to their communication, order system method of fulfilment (including supply to certain dealers where some are better off than others), as well as after-sales, it's become a complete joke. How they win these industry awards leaves me stumped - it's clear that the broader picture isn't being looked at.

Over a year now my retail order is still in the wind...no idea if it's actually been built, let alone on a ship. The worst is I'm not the only one, and it seems like it may be the case a bunch of us won't get their order.

It will be interesting to understand what options they will be giving each of us. Will it be the same as before, as I can't think what else they can offer. The previous options were (I think):
1. Continue waiting
2. Change the order to another vehicle
3. Cancel and pay £350 if you've already had the charger installed

got the same. be interesting to hear what the 'options' are.
Just had a look on their website and I can't see anything even close (under £350/month with >200 miles range) so unless they're going to be generous and give major discounts on what's on their website - their phone call will just end with the customer saying keep the order and hope - or cancel the order.

It's an assured bet, ZS with sunroofs won't be built. FOC charger for me. I'm now happy I dodged a bullet in buying / leasing an MG.
I've been very lucky in getting an alternative car from Zen Auto at a very good price. Hope all who have lost out find success in finding alternatives.

just got my call

They are willing to waive the charger costs if you cancel, but won't pay to get it removed (ha ha) I thought I might ask just to see what they will say.

@Nibble86 what were the other options....any good offers on other cars?
They definitely trying to steer us to cancel, which I refused to do.

they mentioned a ZOE or Corsa for the same price which is not practical option for me

similar price apparently but i didn't ask for specifics as I am not interested in either of those options

Just had the call and cancelled my order with them. Confirmed nothing to pay for charger and full cost waived. Also confirmed that mg have said that no SE models will be supplied - so my car would never have materialised! Only a small batch of trophy and connect models expected. Which will be at a higher price when they do arrive if I wanted one due to vanarama losing the grant (presumably as they are expected beyond april).
I wipe my hands of it all!
