Best insurer?

Not that I have the car yet, but in preparation, I have tried the usual comparison sites. But the first thing they ask is the registration number. So I will have to wait.

Hi,

Early on it was hard to get insurance for an MG4, but hopefully that has changed.

Who have people gone with in the last few weeks that gave you a good deal? Thanks.
Admiral were much cheaper for me than any others. I also found that I got a much cheaper quote on comparethemarket vs go compare for the same policy (I might have got that the wrong way round, try both)

I found that with Admiral too, who I was already with. I shopped around and then stayed with them, as their quote for the MG4 was only £6 more than what I was already paying with them for my previous Gen 1 ZSEV.

i wouldnt insure a wheel barrow with admiral. In 30 years ive had one claim which was with these cowboys. They use agents like nationwide crash repair. Brewery and drinking session springs to mind. All very well getting cheap insurance but its just that for a reason. NFU might be expensive but thats why they are the best.

Never had an issue with admiral, had two cars written off after being hit by another driver and both times admiral paid out no quibble

Use the same model and close year reg from a car for sale on auto trader if you need to. Most comparison sites also have a manual entry and select of make and model as they realise that the reg is not always known

I'm with Admiral (using Multi-cover). They were cheapest when needing to insure a day or so in advance of pick-up.

When I was getting quotes 2+ weeks in advance, LV= came out cheapest.

However the OP of this thread asks about "best insurer" and "good deal" ... price is only one aspect of this. :)

Everyone will have a different tale about their ‘best’ insurer, and their ‘worst’. If you stick with the well known insurers it usually comes down to price like for like. My advice is to shop around until you’re happy with the cover and the price. Comparison sites are a great place to start.

I think AdyC was referring to problems getting crash repairs done properly/ quickly rather than payouts for a write off. Different situations.

Indeed - thank you I am not necessarily wanting the cheapest but a good insurer with a lot included in the price.

I totally agree, I had an accident before Christmas and dealing with Admiral and their claims handler’s was absolutely horrendous, on renewal I will certainly not be going with them again.

My MG4 SE SR won't be here for another 16ish weeks but have been preparing ahead. I'm with Churchill for my current 2016 Sportage diesel and currently pay £250 fully comp (I'm 56 next month). When I asked Churchill like for like on the MG4, it was actually £5 cheaper. I had expected it to perhaps be dearer as I have a friend who works for NFU insurance and she had said that EVs had been dearer because insurers simply didn't know enough about them and potential risks. I was pleasantly surprised for mine to be pretty much the same

Churchill are insuring the MG4 now? (Previously the Direct Line group - which includes Churchill - weren't doing so).

They better be as I am with them currently and will need to swap car when it arrives. I was with them for my MG5 for the last couple of years so hopefully all will be ok.
