Not actually a question, more a little reassurance really. I had been asking myself that question before departing these frozen wastes for 7 weeks in Australia. Here's the answer.

I charged the car as usual a few days previously and timed my running around so the SOC was around 80%

I made sure my 12V charger and a 10mm spanner were handy. 👍

I put the car in the garage (something of a first, that) and left it unlocked. The thinking was that
a) the alarm system wouldn't be loading the battery and
b) I wouldn't need to worry about emergency unlocking if the 12V had discharged too much.

Arrived home late on Monday, opened the garage, jumped in to the car. Foot on brake, pressed start and she sprang to life with the LV battery meter reporting 14.2V.

Dove out of the garage fine, with no evidence of brakes dragging.

All seems well.

In short, leaving the car for an extended period seems fine.

Hope that helps.

That's good, I've left mine in outdoor airport parking twice in warmer weather for 6 weeks at a time with no problem. Maybe once the 12v gets a bit older I'll start to be more careful.

Only thing i'd say there is careful about leaving it unlocked, just that the insurance company might get funny if something happened to the car and they found out.

Left mine outside (in Inverness) from Oct --> Dec while away in NZ. Charged to 85%, locked and alarmed.

Returned at the beginning of the December cold snap (it reached -8C here one night back then), to find it still charged to 85%. Started immediately, drove perfectly.
