Locked in my MG4 & unable to escape - Serious Safety Issue

I must admit nearly 5000 miles in, I've had no issues, until I got the letter & started to read this thread!,

I'll of course book myself in, so is the interim solution #414 - i.e. lift your bum off the drivers seat sensor?

.... I also just thought that like my previous car (a 14 year old tiguan), that holding the unlock key for 10 seconds would wind all the windows down & unlock the car, and likewise holding the lock button for 10 secords would wind all the windows up (and lock the doors) - alas this doesn't appear to be the case 🤔🤔

Bum in the air only seemed to have worked in a couple of cases although widely reported.
(Waits for the innuendos)

And no. The MG4 doesn't have global window opening and closing.

And the wing mirrors don’t fold in either😕
... apologies for taking it for slightly off topic, I was meerly trying to think ahead incase I'm in the above situation in the next few weeks - I just thought that hitting the open key button for 10 seconds would wind the windows down & unlock the car - alas it doesn't! - I'm going to practice accessing the tailgate emergency release route, which appears to be the only exit strategy, as far as i can make out.

If you've had the update done hopefully the chance of getting locked in is negligible but it would be worth checking the escape route works just for piece of mind.
It would also be worth checking that the emergency physical key works in the locks as from experience with a Mondeo with a flat battery they are often very stiff and need a bit of lubrication and a pair of pliers to free them up.

This is a thing I have been meaning to try and now thanks to your reminder I will when the rain/ sleet and the wind drops

Issue with getting locked in car.

Whilst a recall exists, until this is completed, you can disable the auto locking in the settings. Whilst I don’t want to put this to the test, I would think if the door has not auto locked you should be able to just open the door.

The setting to not auto lock is in the convenience settings.

Interesting. Auto-lock locks all the doors when the car starts to move so if the doors aren't locked by the auto-lock and then the key isn't recognised does the car lock the doors?

Remember auto lock is different to deadlock...the key not recognised actuates deadlock

Interesting, I've had mine back to the dealer (did it within a day of notifying them) - but have noticed no difference todate on anthing (I do recall that LKA - lane assist / ACC defaults somewhere else - on mine its as is on ACC as selected) - have I got the newest software update?

Auto door locks, Now is there some differences I have been waiting all afternoon for my wife to come home with her MG4 SESr to take a look at what I posted at # 750 and there is nothing in the screen that says anything about Auto Door locks so is it only on the trophy? Can someone who has that model take a look please.

I've just had the locking in update done.
Unfortunately/fortunately my dealer didn't do the other software updates.
I'm waiting to be called back in re my bulgy seat bolsters so will get the other stuff done then. Hopefully some additional bugs will be ironed out by then.

When I had my locking in update done last week, the service person I spoke to said they would do all and any available updates at the same time. I suspect they didn't, and the garage was just speaking without thinking it through, as my car's Lane Assist (luckily) still turns off and stays off.

Mine was done today and my LKA also stays off so happy about that. Dealer said before it was done that they didn't control what updates would be done.

Also asked them to check the breather and they said it is now covered by a TSB so is done as a matter of course. Fortunately no leak on mine after 10 weeks and 5000 miles.
