MG4 Undertray dip/bulge

I personally dont see this as a major issue either, it just needs a aluminium or stainless steel 1000mm ruler (with appropriate holes drilled), along the leading (culprit) edge, either of which are less than £10 from either screwfix or toolstation. I'll do this on mine once the weather warms up, and will report back as to where on the ruler you need to drill the holes.
And after spending 26 or 32 thousand depending on model you actually think you should need to do this.
Then when you take the car for its first service they inform you that your warrantee is invalidated.

... I might be old school, but when ever I get a new car, I replace all the major secrews and bolts (with a little copper grease) in stainless around the major parts which will rust from road salt, in total its less than £50 - always had any warranty claim approved within any limits - for the MG4 I would also change the gearbox oil every year! - as I've found in the past with an ICE that any heat kills (i.e blackens oil) - I've come from VAG to MG, and its amazing that every 40k miles we need to change the 4wd halxex oil - which is 100% clear (at the back awat from the engine) as parts of the service schedule, but the front diff & gearbox (which is supposed to be non servicable!) was so black after 60k miles on the VW - dont rely on the dealer to do this, even if you are paying 28-32K for a new car, as they will only do the absolute minimum to cover the warranty period.

So as normal here we appear to have more than 1thread running on the same subject so I have just copied below what I have just written in the under tray bugle POLL .

Well in case you have not seen my post Very Disappointing Day from this Tuesday 24/01 my dealer told me then that nothing is to be done about this bulge in the under tray that its normal and all MG4 come with it.
But looking at the picture from StackH above he’s found one that looks Flat enough to me think I would be happy with that instead of mine #36 above.

There is a difference from changing oil, replacing some bolts and putting some grease on others, to having to fix a botched fitted panel, that the manufacturer would appear to not give a toss about and we are now hearing reports of some breaking.
If people want to fix it then more power to them, but on a £32/£33k trophy I just don't see that as acceptable and if they cant get something as simple as getting holes on a panel to line up with the bolts that fix it on with what else have they botched or just decided that people have to make do with.

Les the fact that we are hearing reports of them breaking now and in one case a member getting quoted £700 for a replacement, as it's not under warranty, yet dealers/MG are saying it's normal, a characteristic, they all come with it, This is just a joke and nobody should accept this response.
These cars range from £26995 -£32495 before you spec any paint upgrade and yet some people seem willing to accept all manner of shoddy quality and service

At the risk of veering off topic, if you're handy with the spanners, I recommend popping the sliding pins from all 4 calipers to check their lube status.
No grease whatsoever on mine, and a notable amount of brake dust at the rear due to the park brake sticking on quite often.

MG needs to face the fact that this is either:
a) flawed design,
b) defect of parts/product,
c) incompetence workmanship, or;
a combination of above.

They can either fix the issue at no cost to customer or end up in court.

I understand people are competent and willing to modify to rectify the issue - its great but its not the point.

If we don't speak up and remain a firm position, manufacture will soon not be bothered supply customer a wheel in perfect circular shape and call it a character after taking the money in the near future.

Leni I certainly haven’t accepted anything from them if fact as I said in my post about my disappointment, I had quite a strong disagreement with a member of their service staff in front of the others there about this issue, and told him that the sales person had assured me something was going to be do about it when we collected the car, but he said he had no information about this and MG would not repair or replace the tray as there is no safety issue with it, I have my doubts and even more so now after reading tonight of owners have them ripped or damaged. This is not finished with yet as far as I’m concerned.

Les apologies that wasn't directed at you, more a general observation that there are some members that seem willing to put up with quality issues because the car is a bit of a bargain and won a few awards.
I know this won't be your first fight with MG and If it was me I would be 100% the same as you and not accepting it.
I just find it incredible that we have a member with a shattered tray, that had a bulge, that probably was a major factor in it breaking for one reason or another, and an MG dealer has the nerve to tell them the faulty, forced into place, botched part isnt under warranty and it's £700 to fix it.
It's just shockingly bad and I'd be gobsmacked if there is anyone in here who can defend the dealer/MG on this one.
£700 and who's to say the replacement will fit correctly

Leni 16 No apologies needed and I did not think for one minute you was having a go at me no no I agree with you totally.
Not sure if this video has been posted before on here if it has I’m sure you lot will let my know and I will then remove only a small one anyhow.and I sure a lot of us have seen something very similar on our own cars no idea if it’s been replace I have email the chap and will update if I get a reply
Les.

EDIT Update had a reply for this and the chap has said no it as not been changed but his dealer has a new tray on a back order but no idea when it’s to come.so he’s in the same boat as the rest of us it seems.

Quick question.
When I looked underneath the car today prior to delivery, the undertray was flat with no bulges.
So does it distort or bulge following running?
Thank you.

it is there as you pick it up, been past my dealer today, they got my car there, it has a slight bulge, not something i will kick a fuss about. The grey one parked next to it, did not have any bulge.
