Dashcam install

You'll see the surround is made up of 2 sections, the right hand side indicated in this picture is the smaller section. This is the one I took off. I put a plastic spudger in between the glass and the panel and levered it away, it popped off fairly easily. You could use a flat knife (regular cutlery, not too sharp) also I guess if you don't have a spudger.
Thanks for posting this info, I think if I can safely remove this panel, I'm going to see if I can find a power feed for the rear view mirror, and use this to also power a dash cam.

This would save having to run cables from the fuse box. If the larger left plastic planel can also be removed then this would be good to have a look at.

I’ll try and get at it with the spudger again. I was a bit worried that something might get broken. Thank you so much for responding.

Could you let me know how you get on with removing the cover on the windscreen? If you do manage to get it off, would you mind grabbing a few pics showing the electronics and connectors?

I did have a go myself today at removing the cover, but I only had a small plastic spudger that came with a dashcam.

I was able to get it behind the right hand side cover at the bottom where is meets the left hand cover. I did try prising it away from the glass, but was unable to get it to come loose, I didn't want to use too much force as it was pretty cold today and the plastic can be brittle.

Thanks to @Crawfyp’s advice I was able to get the right cover out with a little bit more effort. I don’t see any wires in there but I got some images for future reference.

Do you have a Trophy or an SE? It may be that only the Trophy has relevant electronics (hence power wiring) up there, as the Trophy comes with an auto-dim rear-view mirror.

Thanks very much for grabbing these pics. I still need to get the cover off on my car but am hoping to have a look this weekend. I'll see if I can grab a few pics also it will be interesting to see if the trophy has extra wiring for the auto dimming mirror.

Hi I am looking to fit a front and rear cam camera to my 4 how did you run the cable to the rear and is the front cable easy to hide were there spare fuse connections or did the have to have the adapter fitted thanks david

I found that the key to it all is the door seals - they pull off easily and then provide access to all the areas you need (A-pillar. fuse cover, roof lining, etc.):

The A-pillar cover can be prised off with trim removers (to get from the camera down to the fuses). There's an easy route from the A-pillar down to the fuses (accessible with the dashboard end panel removed).

By separating the seal at the top of the door apertures, you can route the cable through, within the headliner to the rear.
I used the existing cable conduit in the rear quarter to route the cable through to the hatch, and an existing grommet to pass the cable through to the rear window:

Thanks for the advice and photo did you fit fuses to box or did you have to put adapters on

I had originally planned to use these for ignition and permanent supply:

...but found that the upper-left triple-pole fuse socket doesn't actually have a feed to it (on our SE, at least!):

As such, had to piggyback off the adjacent 5A fuse.
Then had issues getting the triple-pole fuse tap to fit into the socket, even though it appears identical to the fuse. Even trimming down the terminals didn't help!

I then noticed that the existing triple-pole 5A fuse socket doesn't actually utilise all 3 sockets (again, on our SE, at least):

(Image above with the 5A triple-pole fuse removed)

As such, ended up using a total of 2x of the more standard (2-pole) mini fuse taps:

(Image also shows Gnd connection).
