Whilst extremely pleased with my EV I was more than alarmed at the WBAC valuation recently. Purchased Nov 21 £25k, WBAC valuation £16750 Jan 23.

I accept the mileage is higher than average (22k) but didn't expect such a hit. If this is peculier to EV's then deeper consideration is certainly needed before my next purchase

Just the way the markets going right now if you done it in October and you would have been laughing
Also others offer more than we buy any Car

About 8 weeks ago a close relative updated his just over two year low mileage ZS EV Gen 1 for a long awaited new ZS EV LR model.
It was a long wait, but timed perfectly !,
Prices at the time were stupidly over inflated.
He used the valuations from the usual sources, in order to receive a decent trade in offer from his dealer.
He received an extremely healthy £22,000 trade in price at that time !.
Within two weeks of collecting his car, the second hand prices started to tumble quickly.
Around the same time that Tesla announced huge price cuts to their new model 3 and model Y models strangely enough ?.
Other manufacturers must be furious with Tesla for taking this action.
Plus anybody who purchased a Tesla just before Christmas 2022.
His previous Gen 1 is STILL up for sale at the dealer for £23,000.
But WBAC etc are now valuing it at only £16,000 last week.
Talk about good timing on his part !.
We knew the bubble hard to burst 💥 it was predicting WHEN was the problem !.

Have you tried getting valuations elsewhere so you get a a balanced pic? Cazoo, motorway etc. Also look on auto trader and see what they are fetching. One wbac value may not be enough to get to the actual market value

I've been tracking the price on motorway for my ZS Trophy SR, from my check on the 30th of Jan it has dropped 3k.

No, I'm sure it doesn't, I went a touch wobbly thinking it was peculier to EV's + high mileage, if it's just the way the market is for ALL second hand cars then dissapointed but there we go.

Reason for the check price was my intention to upgrade to a 'long range' but the trade in price may delay this venture

Hell of a sudden drop! have you compared it to the general second hand market?

Out of pure interest ( no ontention to sell ) I checked out Cazoos price to buy mine. The offer was £26,500 for a September 22 registered Silver Trophy Connect LR with 1,500 (fifteen hundred) miles on the clock.

A friend sold his Mini electric at 2 years old in October 22 for £600 more than he paid for it new. Bizarre! ( It was low mileage).

If dealers are selling on autotrader the same version as mine for between £25.5k-£28k, than yeah the Motorway seems very on par with market, as that takes into account profit for the dealer buying and from experience they are very much conservative.

So the option is for you to sell it privately and try to get the market rate yourself or lose out on 1-2k by going to through someone like Motorway.
