Cell balancing on LR MG4 with Zappi

So Les, do you think when the car seemly randomly changes my setting of 80% to 100%, which I thought was a bug. It's actually an indication that the car wants to get to 100% so it can balance the cells?
From now on I'm going to set the zappi timed boost window to 7 hours, and just let the car do what it wants

Well Al, it possible I suppose but I think if the car is set to stop charging once it gets to what you have set it for 70-80% or what ever it should stop, but if you only set the Zappi for your cheap period let’s say 4 hours and the car is not at 100% it will not balance

But at the beginning of this thread your question was how to get the car to do a charge and balancing of the battery with the Zappi well I think your sorted with that now.
But then #18 you said you had been setting the car to stop at 80% so that confused matters as the balancing only happens at 100% as I explained.

But again I will remind you its the car that controls the charge not the wall box so yeh if you do as you have done set the a Zappi on Eco++ and then set your boost time to start when your cheap rate starts you should be on to a winner.
With your cheaper rate charging.

And if you have set the car to stop charging 70 or 80% it should stop when it’s there is there a bug I don’t know but remember it won’t balance at less than 100% and also one other thing the time for it to balance can also vary from 30 minutes to a couple of hours so the best way to charge your car is like MUZGB1970 as explain at #7 if you can

The only other thing I will remind you of is you have the Long Range battery and the recommendation for that battery is to try and keep it in the 20-80% state of charge if you can of course and than give it a full charge around once a month or maybe twice that’s one of the reasons that in the cars with the LR battery you have the ability to limit the charge to 80%, the SR car doesn’t have that 80% setting as it’s a different type of battery that can be charge to 100% at anytime but if you need your car full each day well you need it full, so charge it and let the car decide when it needs to balance.

Les.

Not MG related, but Zappi related.
I have the Zappi but no car yet still 😪 wanted to try / test the unit out and fortunately my son has taken a delivery of an ID3 2 weeks ago, put it on charge at 48% car was set to 100%, found that once car reached 100% everything stopped as we hoped.
What I did find was that the information from the Zappi attached to the wall was far more useful that what the app displayed, the unit could actually show the a detailed log of the charge cycle, including exact start / stop time and kwh used. Would be nice if this could be seen in the app as an option and not just rounded up summary. - Off I go to e mail zappi about this :)

My Zappi charges to 100% then stops - there appears to be no battery cell balancing. However, when I use my Ohme (to take advantage of Intelligent Octopus rates) - as we did this morning - then there is a period of Battery Cell Balancing that appears to take place at the end of the charge - as shown by the screen grab of this morning charge attached. We only ever charge at home - so I vary between using the Zappi for free sunshine power - and a regular 100% charge using the Ohme.
