I bought a Motorola G82 phone about 3 months ago and until yesterday it has been "rock solid" connecting and using Android Auto. I use Google Maps for navigation and Spotify for music.....all good.

However, yesterday I got an error message using Google Maps - "GPS SIgnal Lost". When this occurs the map freezes as does the navigation.

A quick check on the internet suggests I am not the only person experiencing this problem. Further investigation needed on my part.

Just wondered if anyone else in our community has experienced this and if a fix had been found?

Hi,

2nd attempt as somehow lost my response before submitting.

I have a Motorola edge and the same thing started a couple of weeks ago.

I noticed that whilst it lost GPS the phone screen was slightly flickering.

I removed the case and thoroughly cleaned it and the phone. So far no problems since.

Suspect that the phone is sensitive to something confusing the touchscreen.

Try that first or just without the case if you have one

I thought it went to a 'dead reckoning' mode when it lost GPS, for example when in a long tunnel. Maybe that's only while navigating.

It's a well known recent problem with AA and Google maps and is not car related. Search the web for a few work arounds until the AA or maps is fixed. I took the opportunity to move over the Waze which does not have this problem.

Thanks for the replies.

Will try Waze.

Will also give the phone a good clean (although it's fairly good but I do keep it in a folding cover so will try without that too).

The navigation freezes completely when the error occurs. Bit of a PITA!

Found this

Thanks Gomev.

I am running AA v8.7.

However, I was out and about today (about 100 mile round trip) and no problems. I used Google Maps as normal but altered AA to have unrestricted battery usage (picked that up as a tip from the Google forum).

So, fingers crossed, that's fixed my issue!

I was getting the same issue with my galaxy S9 so the sat nav was useless. I just got a new S23 and so far it seems to be OK, so assuming it's a phone based issue. Maybe borrow another phone and try that?

see link in post #6

Google have now released an update to maps to fix this.
