MG ZS EV - Love the car...BUT two niggling issues

I got the delivery salesman to turn it off and bind the phone.👍🏼
So intriguing we’d pay so much for something and accept things to be switched off.

I don’t know what sorcery is going on in ‘mine’, but none of the MG Pilot features can be switched off. I say ‘mine’ as it’s rather fluid at the moment.

That lower left stalk can be a bit stiff at first it just needs pushing towards the dash

MG Pilot such as Forward Collision / Pedestrian Avoidance etc. not controlled by the stalk

love the car two niggling issues lane assist is a pain the assist leaves me feeling like I'm driving on a pinball machine. bouncing from one side of the lane to the other. Niggle two I can't bind on any of my phones apple or android. I've had the MG ZS EV Essence from new for two months.
Does anyone else have any of these problems???

Yes the binding is an issue for me to.
I posted on the forum and tried all which was suggested.
Went back to dealership yesterday and they couldn’t get it to connect either.
It is really frustrating especially last week with the frost and early mornings and couldn’t pre heat the car something I was really looking forward to.
I’m lost with this what to do next sorry not much help!

Is your car a X Demo / preregistration model by any chance, or has somebody had the opportunity to bind their phone to it ??.

To connect your phone do a factory reset and this will sort the problem, we’ll it did for us after it had been in for repair, and obviously someone else had connected their phone.

The LKA default to emergency is apparently an NCAP requirement since July 22 on all new cars. It is a pain and I go through and switch mine off at the start of every journey. I complained to MG and they have no plans to change it unless NCAP changes. Regards pairing I had initial issues with it because bizarrely the car didn’t know which time zone it was in. I changed it to London in the settings and then it paired so may be worth double checking that.

Absolutely agree with this niggle. The lane tracking function is alarming and annoying and not suited to winding British roads with worn lane markings - perhaps useful on motorways. It feels like you're fighting the car and you're not in control (which you aren't). It would be OK if you could simply disable it but unfortunately you can activate it by accidentally pulling the cruise control lever towards you (which I've done a few times when what I wanted to do was increase the cruise speed by a 5mph increment) -- and then, having activated it, the only way of deactivating it is by going through the menus on the screen. Absolutely NOT what you want to be doing while driving, so I have to pull off the road. This really needs to be addressed. Either it should be possible to disable it properly so you can't turn it on accidentally, or it should be possible to turn it off easily from the controls.

It isn't much better on motorways, even in full Lane follow mode.

As N2STY states above LKA should stay off once disabled in the menu.

Are MG Pilot and LKA the same thing? I use MG Pilot all the time and have never experienced any of the issues mentioned in this thread.

According to the manual, MGPilot is activated either by switching it on via the infotainment system on the screen or "Operating the adaptive cruise control lever to 'resume' twice". (That is quite easy to do accidentally). That will "switch the MGPilot system to standby or active state". There is no way then to turn it off other than by going through the infotainment screen menus. It says that the MGPilot system works with the adaptive cruise control, and when the latter is activated, "the system detects lane lines on both sides of the vehicle". "If the lane lines ahead on both sides are clear, the system can assist the vehicle in driving within the lane lines." In other words, MGPilot includes lane assist - and that is certainly my experience. I can't remember for sure whether then deactivating the adaptive cruise control turns MGPilot off. I imagine it does. But I'm sure that on reactivating ACC from the stalk it then activates MGPilot as well. If someone can advise how I can make sure lane assist never comes on whilst driving I would be most grateful. Because of this, my wife never uses the cruise control, which I completely understand.

Just factory reset the car... Configuring is easy the try binding.
