Hi guys

I was curious to see how the MG4 would look with a larger set of aftermarket wheels. Been having a play, so thought I'd share these images in case they're of interest :) They're also in a Google Photos album (though can't seem to insert the link)

I particularly like the look the wheels in the first pic .
Does anyone know what affect they'll have on M/Kwh figures?
Think they're my favourite also! I'm kind of tempted, though I'm getting the car through salary sacrifice with replacement tyres included, guessing that wouldn't be covered if the wheels are changed.

First and second set for me.

What size did you base this on? and did you you lower the car?

Cheers.

Paul.

Definitely liking the way 19’s look. Even on my Leon FR sport the ride height is very high for 17’s

Would putting 19’s make any difference to the “gear” ratio or motor ratio as I suppose it is, and would anything need to be updated for the energy consumption?

Not 100% sure, though think the rolling radius remains the same

If 19" wheels with low-profile tyres give the same overall diameter (so as not to affect the speed and efficiency results), how will the wheel arches look "fuller"? (Which I guess is the effect you're looking for).

If they do fill the arches more, then the diameter must be bigger. This gives a bigger circumference, and so speed and efficiency readings will be out. (And given that my speedo is very accurate vs GPS speed readings, I suspect that such a change may make the car under-read ... i.e. more distance is travelled per wheel revolution ... which is a big no-no).

I think it's just the visual effect, not actually filling them more 🤷🏽‍♂️ There's a video on YouTube of an MG4 with some dark 18" wheels, it's not been lowered though it certainly looks fuller under the arches. Guess it's subjective

I've never changed wheels on any of my cars, I was tempted on my Leon, but was only keeping it for 2 years so didnt see a point. I will have this MG4 for 3-5 years I think so it makes more sense.

The efficiency and the speed changes would put me off though, but maybe in a few months there will be someone who has tried it, or has found a way to change ECU settings to adjust for bigger wheels

True although easy enough to calibrate and allow for this when driving.

Hi there. What type of Alloy are the ones in the first photo? Many thanks

Well I did go the sensible route on my winter tyres, that's down to light weight 16" wheels with 205/60r16 for better winter range and not so expensive winter tyres (here in Norway we have to use real winter tyres might even be studded).
205/60r16 is normaly 200£ less for 4 tyres than 215/50r17 here and combined with better consumtion that's a no brainer for me.

Here are the ones I bought to my MG4, it's Zax EV531 Gloss Gunmetal 16X6,5.
One can get them in Satin Black and Silver to.
