Hi
I myself have not been able to use tesla open for and I see in previous threads that others have at least previously had problems with this. I also have problems with some incharge fast chargers. The car have received the latest software without that helping.
Any one else still have problems with some fast chargers and especially Teslas? Does anyone have more info on this problem?
Thanks.
/Carl

Tesla superchargers do not work with MG.
Actually, Tesla are opening a few select chargers to non-Tesla EVs with CCS2 rapid charging ports. [ Edit: Check the Telsa app to see where they are. ]

I’ve not had any trouble with Working chargers so far
Are you referring specifically to Tesla fast (super-) chargers here, or chargers in general?

I know about Tesla chargers opening up for others (about 15 so far) but the last time I read, was that that the way the Tesla chargers communicate with the cars, do not support the way MG does, or something like that hence they work with all others except MG. Wierd I know but this was taken from the Tesla forum (also a member).

Lord help us. There are these things called standards. and if everyone adheres to them, we should all be able to inter-operate.

If this is true (sadly, it would not surprise me), then I wonder if it's the Tesla end or the MG end that is at fault. Still, I'm sure that MG have already whipped up a firmware fix for this, and are busy testing it right now for rapid distribution to all MGs... I wish. 🌠🎂🤔💭

Unfortunately, the charging networks were able to set up business without any government regulation, which means there are any number of cowboys out there trying to make a quick buck before going out of business. Fortunately in Europe, Tritium seems to be the charger of choice now for many networks, and they have a fairly bullet proof handshake protocol. Tesla on the other hand and as usual, do their own thing (which is usually annoyingly good).

The thing is also that last fall I charged on teslas (open for all) without problems, but since some time back it doesn't work, so some change in teslas charger seems to have happened

I just tried to charge my MG5 at a Tesla charger. It didn't work. I tried two chargers. They both failed but gave different messages on the Tesla app. One said it couldn't detect a car. The other said that the charger was in use??? I called the Tesla helpline and they immediately said that Tesla chargers don't work with MGs. They said it was something to do with the MG high voltage system making it unsafe to use??? They implied the problem wasin MG's court. This is very disappointing for me as am about to go to the South of France and wanted to have Tesla chargers as an option. If anyone has more information about this then please let us know. In the meantime I will put pressure on MG in any way I can.

Well, the older model MGs do have a higher battery voltage than Teslas. But the maximum voltage is just over 450 V, and (at least in Australia), superchargers are rated for 500 VDC. They employ an 880-1000 V DC bus (from rating labels on the rectifier cubicles). So I don't believe that the higher battery voltage should rule out charging MGs.

Maybe Tesla have seized on the higher battery voltage as an excuse to push it into the too hard basket. If only MG UK were pro-active, I'm sure that they could sort out the problem in short order, possibly with Tesla's help. Tesla must have logs that they could provide, for example, detailing why it thought that there was no car there, or the charger was in use. The latter sure doesn't sound like it's MG's fault.
