Just a question...does the MG4 in any or all versions have any 12v ports to enable dashcams or mobile GPS units to be plugged in?
Thinking of buying a LR and plugging in those items rather than using Android phone for SatNav as I have limited data.
EDIT.......upon searching the forum I believe there is one 12v port below the centre console but is there a second one somewhere?
I only ask coz my current ICE vehicle has two.

The only one I'm aware of is the one between the 2 front USB sockets. The Trophy has an active rear view mirror, so there may be a 12V (or 5V) supply up there that could be tapped in to.

I managed to get the cover off on my trophy in the end, and there is indeed a connection for the mirror. I've not measured the voltage yet, but it's most likely 12v.

Earlier in the thread, @Shanecb posted a dashcam they found on Amazon that's built into a replacement mirror cover and taps into that feed.

Thanks, I believe that's similar or the same as this one on Aliexpress:

However it looks like it's intended for LHD cars as the hole for the rear view mirror is on the left, and it would need to be mirrored for a RHD car.

However it does look like a nice solution, and it would be great to be able to get power from the mirror as it would save running extra wires from the fusebox.

I found it easy enough to access the fuse box by partially removing rubber the door seal and removing the side panel by prising it off to the right towards the door. This gave me sufficient access to the fusebox without having to remove the fascia. The photo above of the fuse positions was extremely helpful in this regard. Using a spudger, it is easy to hide the wire behind the windscreen trim.

I finally found the fusebox on our Trophy - didn't realise it was so high up in the dash (I assumed it would be low down, behind an easy-to-remove panel, like every other car I've owned :) ). I did have trouble finding a switched 12v, as the one pointed out previously on this thread seemed on my car to be permanent 12v! - It's hard to test, though, as the car only really switches off when the doors are locked, so I had to somehow fix my meter connection to the fuse outlet and ground, place it on the dash where I could read it from outside, then get out and lock the car and count to 10! - Finally I found a suitable fuse and all is now wired up. Another surprise I got was the fuse sizes were different to previous cars - some are ultraminature, and some are three-pin, so none fitted the fuse tap connectors I had.

Out of interest, which fuse did you use for the switched 12v? Is it one of the ones that don’t actually become live until you sit in the drivers seat, rather than unlock the car?

Good question. I didn't take a photo of the fuse box, but I found an empty slot at the top row, second in from the left, if I remember. It was one of the larger 3-pin slots, and I managed to get a wire into the live terminal. I have a 3A in-line fuse in my wiring, just to protect from shorts. As for when it comes on, I think the camera fires up when you push your foot on the brake pedal.

OK, thanks. Sounds like the same place as mine. It's a but annoying that there doesn't seem to be a live that switches on when the car is unlocked.

where are your rear cams mounted too. theres not much view out of the rear screen for these.
Any pics would be good?
Mine is mounted right in the middle-top of the rear. The camera gets a perfectly good view. You get a bit of the spoiler in the top corners, but doesn't really impact the view.

Here you go. Also ground bolt on the right, and piggy backs need to be in that orientation
I found this updated fuse picture on Dashcams.co.uk, different fuse for the switched 12v to the one earlier in the thread

Yes, mine is actually using setup now. He swapped it to that as I has some slightly odd behaviour. Was working in ok but in parking mode cameras were coming on and off more than they should due to a voltage fluctuation. Only had it changed a month or so ago

The best way is to take 12v power from the interior lights.
I have found the pre-made wiring with adaptor to out put 5V.
I have bought one and I'll receive it by the end of May.( The seller confirmed it'll power on the dash camera as soon as you unlock the car)
I'll get a pin out diagram of it when I got it

That looks like it will be a neat setup.

It would be nice to know if there is a permanent live on the PCB for the interior lights, as this allows for the parking mode for dashcams that support it.

Any chance of a photo of the actual camera mount please

sorry can't help on the permanent live.
I just got a friend who bought the same unit for me and I should receive it second week of April.
Hopefully I can sort out the car first as I rejected our first MG4 last week and waiting for dealer to source another one.

Reading through here I'm a little confused.
I don't car about having the cam on whilst parked just while powered on, am I right in thinking I can just wire to the 2 pin 12v fuses? If so what fuse number for the trophy?
For pictures it looks like F20 but I'm unsure.

Let me know how it goes and best of luck. It's nice not to cut into the cars original wiring.

I'm currently powering my front dashcam using the power feed that goes to the auto dimming mirror, and while it works, I'm hoping to use parking mode if there's a permanent live in the roof module thing.
