Hi,

I ordered a Luxury MG4 (called Trophy in UK I believe ?) for the equipments, but I have to say, I think the double rear spoiler are looking terrible...

So I wonder, do u guys know if we can remove them ?

Also some people said that the 30 km difference between the SE long range and Trophy version is due to these spoilers, that would be killing two birds for one stone.

Thanks

I'm sure someone has posted here previously about doing that. I think you can get a kit from AliExpress to do it.

I'd be interested in seeing the aliexpress link siteguru as it's a nice option to have.

The spoilers are no too tricky to remove, each one is held on with 2 x nuts, you need to remove rubber bungs that are covering the holes first before you have access to the nuts.

I like spoilers, am considering changing ours. These two examples I like a lot. What do others think?

I just looked on aliexpress and found nothing

I don't like the spoilers and think the reduction in efficiency is daft. On the other hand, I think the SE "covers" look like they've been taken off a snow shovel!
Not that I'm hard to please.

It may be something that could be covered by the aftermarket in the future.

Also removing the spoilers and putting the SE version of the rear wing on may still count as a mod in the eyes of the insurance.

There also the possibility that the extra tech on the trophy adds weight such as the extra components of MG Pilot, cameras, heated electronic seats, speakers and such that aren't present in the SE models

I've got an SE and agree that the back end looks a bit strange. Now "snow shovel" has been mentioned I'll never be able to un-see that!

Maybe we need to start up a Saturday swap shop so that SE and Trophy owners can swap rear spoilers!

My apologies. Saw it the first time I took a test drive, but wasn't about to spend thousands more to avoid!

Absolutely. Surely a combo of various factors. Though the heated seats should help.

I have now ordered some snow shovels off aliexpress. The wait is just as excruciating as the one for the MG4. I will be obsessing about snow shovels until the moment of delivery. Should arrive in time for the heatwave and drought aka Summer!
Can you get the spoilers on there too? Any chance of posting a link to the snow shovels.... Can you get orange ones?

+1 on wanting that link to the kit. The spoilers are cool, yet lower efficiency and the swirling pocket of air between them at speed is worth a test without.

i tell people the se 'where the spoilers go on the upmarket versions' covers are auto-actuated flap/airbrakes - as on aircraft - and are only deployed when emergency braking from speeds in excess of 125 mph, similar to the Bugatti Veyron.

Can you share the link please?

really good to know! Thanks. I have the Trophy on order (because of its other specs) but don't like the look of the spoilers at all.

You are spot on with snow shovel, especially with red spoilers. It would be great if we could get a set that were designed to benefit the car!
