MG ZS EV
Hi all,

Not sure if anyone is experiencing this issue. I’ve got a MG ZS EV trophy connect, received it December 2022.

I’ve notice that I’m not getting anywhere near expected mileage from the car. The main concern is when I park the car overnight with 50-55% battery remaining when I get back into the car the following afternoon, the car would’ve lost battery - usually sitting 30-35%

I’m also finding that my battery % is dropping rapidly, usually in a 6 mile round trip I could lose 10-15%

I do run the heating to warm the car for a few minutes and then often have the heating on around 21 degrees, fan speed 1 or 2 to keep windows from steaming up

This is driving round town, I’ve not found issue on the motorway as of yet, but have only been on twice and the car did pretty much as id expected- roughly 115-120 miles using 75-80% of the battery

Thanks

Sounds like the characteristics of the SR (LFP battery)
Best advice charge to 100% overnight then you can start day a fresh

Just seems strange to only be getting 60-70 miles out of a charge, especially the sudden drop in charge whilst car is turned off and not being used

Shock positive comment: My SR doesn't seem to suffer from this variance. Not sure what the differences between scenarios are - it is an interesting one.

Now that my overnight rate went up from 5p kWh to 12p kWh I've tightly restricted the charge window and only charge in that period so I'm only going to 100% maybe once every other week - and I'm not seeing a difference with this behaviour...

I mean, the range is way off WLTP, but it's at least consistent 😄

Im charging to 100% 1 or twice weekly and driving the miles not noticed anything like this might be worth talking with the dreaded garage keep us updated?

It is likely that your windows are steaming up because you either have air on recirc or auto, change to air from external and it should solve the issue.

It does seem strange to be losing so many miles, more so with the sudden drop, I can pretty much predict when the car will lose 15-20% of it charge whilst parked, always happens when I have about 55% left

I’m considering taking it back to the dealer, I was expecting to get a decent range from this car, maybe similar to my previous EV but hadn’t expected the drastic drop

I think its on auto, pretty certain it changes back to auto on it’s own, I’ll have to remember to check this when I get in the car

Have you checked on the floor underneath? There may be a puddle where the charge is leaking out...

That overnight loss is way out of order. my first thought would be are you actually turning it off?

Def go back to the dealer.

It’s definitely turned off, I have wondered whether the iSMART connectivity has anything to do with it, like with that being connected would that drain its battery but I can’t see it taking that much power
