MG4 Restricted speed - weird

Hi all, I excitedly collected my new MG4 SR SE from Perry's Preston on Saturday and I am sad and frustrated to report I'm experiencing the exact same symptoms as Bowfer.

It's a speed limit restriction that's being hit and the power delivery is adjusting against that limit. I've only driven the car a few times and had it several times and the speed limit hasn't been consistent had it around 70mph, 80mph, and way under 70mph. Think the SOC was less than 50% when it's been happening, today was <30%. What a disappointing start to ownership :(

Not really sure what to do, seems like there's no solution coming from MG so far.

Also, when i switch it to 'Sport' it shows 'Sport' on the screen behind the wheel, yet 'Snow' on the main central screen!? 🤷🏽‍♂️ Anybody else seen this? I don't know which it's actually in.
Not a great start especially when Bowfersissue still hasn't been properly identified since November

The one time I tried sport as an experiment at the request of others in this thread, it also displayed snow on the central screen.
I’ve seen it reported on this forum somewhere by others too.
This isn’t connected to the issue at all.

BTW reject the car while it’s easy (under 30 days)
They’re not going to fix this problem anytime soon, that’s obvious.

I think that's a display bug with the "Snow". In your steering wheel display it says Sport but on the central display Snow. Same here.

I also had the restricted power problem when it was cold and < 40 % SoC. With cold and 100 % SoC the car worked fine (holding 102 mph with ease and accelerating like it should).
My MG-Guy told me there is an update for some controller unit (BMS???) that could help with the power-problem. Will update some time soon ... + I will also get the R16 software, which improves iSmart. I will keep you updated.

Don’t know yet, car dumped at the dealer on Saturday along with all keys and the V5, heard nothing since (made them sign for everything)
Been watching the app and it doesn’t seem to have moved.

I had a scenario once where i part exchanged a car, signed it over to the dealer with all paperwork and the dealer settled the finance. 2 months later i got the pcp company asking why i had stopped paying.

The dealer had not settled the finance!

I explained that the dealer hadnt settled and that they actually had the car for sale on the forecourt!

The finance company didnt give a stuff. As far as they were concerned the car was still my responsibility financially.

So. Whatever paperwork got signed when you handed it over may not, as far as the finance is concerned, discharged your responsibility and financial commitments to keep paying the pcp.

I ended up with a ding on my credit as a result.

You are in Scotland, the law may vary. But you could still be liable for the safekeeping of the car, its insurance and to keep paying for it even tho you no longer have it.

I haven’t stopped the payments or the insurance.

Don't stop your payments until the car is sold and finance paid off, if you cancel before that your credit rating will likely be affected.

It is also common when trading in that it takes time to settle the finance and you might make an extra payment or two which will eventually be refunded.

Definitely worth chasing your dealer for proof of settlement (something showing the payment they have made to the finance company).

If several folk are reporting this issue, just on this forum, there must be quite a few out there who must have reported this to MG. So, you'd assume the engineers and big brains in China are at least looking into it? Assume there's just no update as yet 🤷🏽‍♂️ Let's hope they're not pretending there's no issue.

You've probably read all this thread but you will see in Bowfers case that the replaced the motor so they can at least rule that out, hopefully that's been communicated back to MG UK to make other dealership's aware.
It's another more worrying fault, to be fair there hasn't been many (locking in and sudden braking) a fix for the locking in was established quite quick, the issue was more to do with getting it updated on the cars timeously and at least a couple of dealer's saying it was done/or believed it was done when it wasn't.
The sudden braking is pretty rare (at speed) so probably just another update along the line

UPDATE
That’s Santander (MG finance) confirmed rejection and I will get a refund of any direct debit payments made.
Just the matter of the deposit paid by card to the dealer, waiting for them to reply on that.

I’M MG4 FREE YAHOOOOO!!
Really pleased you got that sorted. Nobody deserves the problems you had. Wish you the best of luck with your new purchase.

I can sort you a test drive😉

Currently, the car is receiving its first 100% charge on work 7kW chargers. It's got to 98% and tailed off to 0.02kW supply. Is this normal or could it suggest an issue with the battery?

App is suggesting two hours from 98% --> 100% 🤔

Good luck with that VW software and UI…

Can’t be any worse than the 4.
Sitting waiting for animations to stop so I can repeatedly prod the screen to switch off lane assist…every damn journey….
And I already know I can permanent disable lane assist using VCDS on the born
