I now have a chip/indentation in the edge of my back bumper of my MG5 (PFL) caused by a somewhat over eager dog trying to get into the boot before I'd opened it. (The dogs fine incase you were wondering).

Wondering if it's worth even trying to do anything about it or to just leave it as I knew when I bought the car the rear bumper was likely to get marks given I frequently take the dog out in the car.

Whilst I was kinda expecting surface scratches Was a bit surprised he made a ding in it though

Did you make a deliberate decision not to use a bumper protector?

Yes you can get ones that fold right over the bumper and even versions that include steps for the dog!

I do have a boot liner but lately I can't pull it over the bumper quick enough as he's already jumped in.

He'll usually clear the bumper entirely when he does but this time he tried to jump in the boot before i'd even opened it.

He was very keen to go out (even though he'd already been walked a couple hours earlier)

I have found a touchup paint pen and some rubbing compound very usefull on the white paintwork. Also fitting a bumper protector will cover a multitude of misshaps.

When I bought my MG5 the dealer very thoughtfully fitted pad on the top surface of the bumper (I believe that it may be an mg accessory?( I was lucky it was fitted free great MG dealer O C Davies)
Works well with my Mad Springer Spaniel and Kelpie Collie. Fortunatel the 3 legged lucher waits to be lifted in! with his claws I hate to think what he could do with the paintwork!!
I am glad that I don`t have an auto opening tailgate it would be chaos
