MG4 Restricted speed - weird

Cupra born.
Slightly less per month than a Megane, decent APR deal right now.
Good car but I am so looking forward to your first haptic rant! until you get used to them, as I've said neighbour is used to them now and doesn't mind them but had a few rants about them initially

Always lurking….
Lurking!! Moi😇

TBH I’m not one for having to go into the settings in any car very often.
I decide on an aircon temp, I leave it at that and don’t muck about.
I don’t use cruise, I don’t change radio settings.
If it wasn’t for switching off lane assist I wouldn’t have touched the MG screen very often.

It's the inadvertent brushing of the controls on the steering wheel that annoyed me, when I was driving it. They are extremely touch sensitive, then when I did mean to press them sometimes they didn't respond. As I've said good car to drive through, quickest of the family hatchback type EVs, so will be good on your track

That can be annoying in our Evoque, can be easy to inadvertently switch lane assist on (ironically enough)
We’ll see
TBH things like that don’t overly bother me if the car is basically performing well.
It’s stuff on top of stuff that annoys me.

I wonder why they persist with haptic buttons? Most of the time they don’t work well. I wonder if they’re cheaper to make or something like that ?

Hi all, I excitedly collected my new MG4 SR SE from Perry's Preston on Saturday and I am sad and frustrated to report I'm experiencing the exact same symptoms as Bowfer.

It's a speed limit restriction that's being hit and the power delivery is adjusting against that limit. I've only driven the car a few times and had it several times and the speed limit hasn't been consistent had it around 70mph, 80mph, and way under 70mph. Think the SOC was less than 50% when it's been happening, today was <30%. What a disappointing start to ownership :(

Not really sure what to do, seems like there's no solution coming from MG so far.

Also, when i switch it to 'Sport' it shows 'Sport' on the screen behind the wheel, yet 'Snow' on the main central screen!? 🤷🏽‍♂️ Anybody else seen this? I don't know which it's actually in.
Mine does that .It starts as sport but changes to snow after a couple of seconds .I think it is in actually in snow mode.
The only way I can stop it is to set up custom to be in sport.
I'm waiting for a while to take it in to my dealer as I want as many updates to be done at the same time .

Don't stop your payments until the car is sold and finance paid off, if you cancel before that your credit rating will likely be affected.

It is also common when trading in that it takes time to settle the finance and you might make an extra payment or two which will eventually be refunded.

Definitely worth chasing your dealer for proof of settlement (something showing the payment they have made to the finance company).

The dealer DELIBERATELY didnt settle. They tried to reduce our PX on the day by 500 and we were not having it.

So they simply delayed settlement expecting us to pick up the payments. But we had cancelled the mandate.

Supposedly the finance guy was demoted and reprimanded because of it at the dealership but i think that was just BS we were told

If MG would listen and acknowledge then there’s a trove of good information in this thread and I’ve no doubt they’d know exactly where to be looking. Maybe this BMS update is true. I hope it also fixes the sun par charging speed too but I’ll raise this to my dealer when mine goes back in. It’s more an annoyance, borderline safety issue. I’d rather it logged now and hopefully solved especially if somone eventually gonna buy this off me in the future

With ODB2 readout I've recorded 100% motor output at 130.012kW for 20seconds reaching 99mph with no loss of power.

Which is interesting considering the official rating of the motor for the MG4 SE SR is 125kW peak.

Edit:

SoC 49% at time of test

It was between 50-60%.

Although if i was at 30% or less id likely be trying to save battery anyway and am less likely to boot it
It would make sense for the car to protect the battery at low states of charge or cold conditions. However, not unreasonable to expect a way to turn this behaviour off for those that want to mash the pedal until the bitter end.
