Charging whilst inside the car?

@Alb Can this be merged into existing thread in hints and tips?

Soooo

You power the car off. Start the charging. Get back in. Power the car up, turn heater on AND the car remains in charging mode?

You dont need to power the car off.

  1. Pull up to charger.
  2. Put car in park.
  3. Get out - plug in charger.
  4. Get back in car.
  5. Put foot on brake to bring back to ready mode
  6. ????
  7. Profit.

Just reading through the instruction manual and noticed this, thought I'd add it here:

DO NOT attempt to switch the vehicle power system to READY during charging.

A few comments above suggest it's OK, though the CAPS in this advice infers perhaps it's not advisable or even dangerous?

It's to avoid the risk of trying to drive off in the car whilst still attached. :)

(The car should stop this happening - but if the interlock fails then it could happen).

Alright spill it - how's this happening?
Probably something similar to this MMB Android 11 Plus 64GB Carplay Multimedia AI Box with Air Mouse + Ad

So, not read any of this thread but thought it may be of interest to you all. I have an old pod point wall charger and fairly new Solar system so have set car up to charge using solar only today as to bright sunshine here at the moment.
Set it to 8amps and is working perfectly on a slow charge but totally free!!!
Tried it on 6 amps first too.
I did set the car up yesterday evening to do this ready to chargers this morning using the app but the car changed the settings back to 16 amps automatically. So it turns out you need to set it going from inside the car while switched on.
Hope that all makes sense and is helpful to those who don’t have a smart wall charger.
We have a new zappi coming next though. 😁

Collecting the car tomorrow (blue SE SR), with a long drive from Preston back to Beds.

Planning a stop at Moto Rugby Gridserve 350kW. Most of what I've seen suggests the car needs to be locked to charge, though can you do this while still inside after connecting the charger?

I have a pretty comprehensive checklist picked up from the forums and YouTube, though if there are any other collection, first-drive or first-charge tips, feel free to leave them :) Seen a video about pre-heating the battery before rapid charge, so thinking to do that around 30 mins before the charge stop.
Hope your first drive home goes smoothly. Any chance you could share your checklist?
